• Great piece of software for asset management

  Pros

  Fast and complete information about the network. The warranty tracking is really great and saves us a lot of time. I like the way you can customize your complete dashboard.

  Cons

  The report builder requires SQL knowledge which I don't have :( My colleagues need to build all the reports. I would like to see more build-in reports.

  Summary

  As a system administrator I have tried many products in the past but Lansweeper combines the best features of them all.

• Fast scanning and detailed reporting

  Pros

  I'm currently using Lansweeper in an office environment of around 200 computers. It comes with one agent based and several non-agent based scanning methods. Scanning is fast and I'm quite impressed with the sheer volume of information the software is able to report on!

  Cons

  Creating custom reports requires some practice if you're new to SQL. The report builder comes with several hundreds of built-in reports though.

  Summary

  Lots of information included for scanning, detailed reporting and a fast support team. The low price point is a bonus as well.

  Pros

  Very good price for very good software. Windows scanning is excellent Webconsole is fast and very intuitive. It's not spyware link other free inventory tools. It's agent free or you can use an agent (lspush) optionally if you want.

  Cons

  Device information for routers and printers can be better, hope the next version fixes this. It's difficult to set permissions the first time you use it.

  Summary

  We have been using Lansweeper for 3 years now in a university with over 10.000 computers and it works great. I've tested other products before but you can't beat this functionality for the price.

• No need to install agents?

  Good idea but needs rethinking

  Cons

  If you visit their website, it looks like it pushes a client out and it ships the info back to your main server or program. Still requires an "agent" program in my understanding.

  Summary

  Go with Spiceworks - it's free and does a decent job. Sorry Lansweeper, it doesn't cut it in my book.
