Keywordsurf Toolbar

Download.com Staff Feb 27, 2009
This surfing companion offers the standard fare for applications of this class. Although the toolbar seems primarily designed to promote the Ditto.com search engine, it at least lets you access more powerful, well-known sites, such as Google, Yahoo, and Altavista. In addition, Keywordsurf Toolbar provides an automatic form filler, a highlighting tool, and a pop-up blocker. In our tests, the latter proved efficient against most standard ads, but had problems with floating, Flash, and banner ads. The ability to assign keywords to certain URLs for quick access is a handy feature, but we wish you didn't have to surrender your personal information and register to use it. Still, since it is free, some Web surfers might find Keywordsurf Toolbar worth a go.

This toolbar also includes the ability for keyword searches to be made from your browser. Instead of typing long Web addresses, you can set your own keywords to your favorite Web sites and in the future just type the keyword instead of the address. You also can set your favorite search engine from our list of the 30 most popular engines, instead of going to the search engine home page. Just type the search term into your Web browser and you will be directed to the search engine results page.
