Grand Battle is an excellent real-time strategy game, if you're into war and battles, but it can get repetitive quickly. It's a little cheesy compared to more realistic war simulators, as well. While it may not be for everyone, people who like battle simulators, will find a lot to enjoy in this free game.
This game makes you the commander of an ever-expanding group of soldiers and warriors as you fight to protect your base and conquer others. Not only does war strategy play a big role, but managing your resources and choosing what and when you level up is a major factor in dictating how you attack. The result is a less fantasy-focused take on games like Starcraft. In fact, Grand Battle even includes a few realistic war scenarios, even if the menus and instructions are populated by scantily clad military women for some reason. The battles happen on relatively large fields, which could be hard to see if you have a small-screen phone. Like other resource-management games, this one lets you speed up resource building for experience points and tries to get you to purchase more in-game currency, so you can level up your weapons as quickly as possible.
It feels a little like a Facebook game in a lot of ways, but that will be an excellent way to win more people over. Grand Battle doesn't have to do much to win RTS and other strategy fans over, though. It's an effective enough war simulator to merit hours of play.
