  Pros

  Very thorough scanner, it will find things that other scanners will not.

  Cons

  This is a very low-level scanner, a lot of the things one might see will not make sense or will not be in plain English.

  Summary

  I keep this program in my toolkit now as I have run into new rootkits that are not detectable by TDSSKiller at the time of my writing this review. This is not to say that it will replace TDSSKiller but I am saying that GMER is an essential tool to manually check the work of my other tools.

  I honestly can't tell if there are any.

  On the Gmer web site, it does not say whether the program removes the rootkits it finds or how to remove them if not. There is absolutely no support provided.

  Summary

  Gmer needs to put some information, help and support on its site.

  Everything stated in other comments here, blue screen, viruses, computer does not start except safe mode.....it is all true!!!! It took me 30 min to get my comp. back! Stay away! Why this SW could make it onto CDNET, only CDNET people can answer! The positive comments here can only come from the developer of this shitty SW. However, I do not understand what fun it is for a developer to offer a useless SW??? If you want to mess up our computers, then do it properly! In case anybody wants to contact me: anton.salzmann@yahoo.com I satnd by my comment! Unfortunately we have to rate it at least with 1 star! This SW deserves minus 5 stars!

• Froze my PC...Risky program

  Risky - could put your PC out of commission.

  Summary

  Programs that dig deep into the system can be risky to use. This one froze my Win XP SP3 system. I had to pull the plug to restart it after which I got messages never before seen on restart and had to reset the clock. System restore failed. After resetting the clock and restarting it appears OK, but gave me great anxiety. All I did was start the program then hit cancel after the initial screen...I hate to think if I'd done more.

  Pros

  was suggested by panda software site when I tried to download their antirootkit/ which vista os not supported.

  Cons

  causes system shut down with bluescreen on the three attempts that I tried to run program, nasty interface, looks cheap
