Top movie ticket app Fandango helps you find movie showtimes and purchase movie tickets at theaters near or far.

Pros

Plenty of movie info: If you can't decide on a movie to watch, tap any one and then the Cast + Info section to see a synopsis, photos, and cast list. Or tap Videos for trailers. You'll also get a Rotten Tomatoes score and a Fans star rating.

Movie filtering: To help you narrow your selection, you can filter films by genre, MPAA rating, IMAX & 3D, and more.

Aggregates most major movie theater listings: Unlike competing apps such as AMC Theatres, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark Theatres -- which only provide listings for their own respective cinema houses -- Fandango provides info and tickets for most of the major movie theater chains.

Quick ticket purchasing and returning: Tap any movie; select any movie time at your preferred theater; choose between General Admission, Senior, and Child; tap your preferred seat on a map; and then input your payment method. Fandango VIPs can also exchange or return tickets in the app -- up to two hours before your movie starts.

Notifications you want: Turn on push notifications, and you'll be alerted with first looks, exclusive offers, and more.

iMessage integration: In Fandango for iMessage (if you're on iOS 10 or later), you can coordinate plans with friends over Apple's built-in messaging app.

VIP+ Points: Sign up for a My VIP+ Points account and you'll receive 150 VIP+ points for every ticket purchased. After four tickets, you'll get a $6 reward, which lets you stream a movie on FandangoNOW or get deals on tickets or gear via the FanShop. You will still get your points from partners, including AMC Stubs, Regal Crown Club, and so on, as well.

Cons

Convenience fee: You are charged a small convenience fee for each ticket you purchase in the app. Unlike competing apps, there's no rewards club to join to get around it, either.

Bottom Line

Fandango for Android is hands-down the most comprehensive and polished movie ticket app we've tested.
