Play a MMORPG consisting of world wide players battling creatures and each other online.
Eternal Lands features state of the art graphics that utilize the latest rendering features to produce stunning animations and effects. With only a 35 mb small footprint download, this is a true feat. Things to do: Fighting: You can fight monsters and other players, hunt animals, or join with a group of friends and take them on together. Harvest & Manufacture: Mine ores that you turn into bars of iron, steel, titanium and make various armor and weapons. Or pick flowers and herbs that you mix together to create potions or magical essences. Summoning & Magic: Summon an animal or monster to follow and fight for you! Or Become a Mage and cast deadly spells on opponents, or heal your companions. Roleplay with friends. There's always someone new to talk to, global or private channels, guilds to join, places to explore, all with an easy to use chat interface. Eternal Lands has no fixed classes or professions, so you can always do new things and develop new skills without having to create a new character.
Small download. You can play pretty fast after downloading. Decent tutorial.
Cons
Kinda boring. It is point and click movement. So if you don't like that, don't download. It is basiclly, 2d trying to be 3d.

Eternal Grind
St_Arcane
Pros
Very 'open' gameplay, no pre-fixed character classes. Has/had potential.
Cons
Game has been around since 2003, with no real cap on the skills, so you will have to grind forever like a sadist (just like everyone else does) to catch up/stay ahead. To quote someone else: "a chatroom with lots of counters"

Be who you want to be, set your own goals.
MasterOfNoMercy
Pros
Well-thought out game where your only limitations on what you can do are of your own doing.
Good community for the most part, great help from support channels if you need it, and a moderator team that enforces the game rules firmly but effectively.
Cons
"Channel 6" (used-to-be-invasion) chat channel is just plain horrible, feeds the lowest common denominator. A black eye on an otherwise fine game. But easily avoidable with many other channels to choose from.
Summary
Lots to explore, and much to do and choose from. Called "Eternal" Lands for a reason as there is no final goal, only what you choose to aim for.
A fighter, an alchemist, a potioner, an engineer, a ranger, and many other skills available. You can work on one or even all of them at the same time. You're only limited by your own time and decision-making.
Fun, addictive, and very time-consuming. Don't get so lost in it that you forget about real life!
Fair enforcement of the game rules allows for a more rewarding experience for those who do follow them, which tends to be the majority.
A game for all ages, though the younger (and the even semi-mature) should avoid the aforementioned channel 6 at all costs. There's plenty of other channels (and of course, your guild) to choose from. You can use channel 8 for what 6 used to be for, Leonard (the user-terrorizing leopard) and invasion updates.
Something for everyone...

Pros
Playable on Linux and Mac OSX
This is not a "play-for-me button" type game.
Players meet and interact with people around the world.
Supurb chat system.
Variety: you can fight or pursue peaceful skills such as alchemy, crafting, manufacturing.
Cons
Steep learning curve although to be fair, worth it if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
Addictive ;)
Summary
This is a game for people who enjoy a challenge to get great rewards. This is not a "play-for-me button" type of game. The community is great, people are always happy to help newcomers and oldbies alike. There are many skills and each player is classless, meaning they can pursue any skill they like at any point they like. There is also an opportunity to work on your coding, storywriting, or mapmaking skills as well if you are interested in helping out. The artwork and graphics are amazing, the character choices are the nicest I've seen.
This game will last you years, you won't beat it in a week. And you'll make some friends along the way.
hmm, where do I begin...

Pros
Excellent game to play
many secret places
some excellent quests and challenges ( and more to come )
many ways to develop your character
diverse invasions, challenging instances
pk maps in some parts of the continent
Cons
hard to get into for some, not really for the very young ones
takes time to develop character
Summary
One of the most enjoyable games I have found, great graphics, great gameplay. Completely free to play, but there are some races and some items for sale at the official shop to support development. There is also a seperate pk server if your into that, otherwise there are some interesting maps in the real game. Large (and sometimes dangerous) continents to explore. Very active forum and great community there and ingame. Not a game where you think you will be in the top 10 in a week, that will take a bit longer, but dilligence, exploring and strategy does pay off in many ways.
Very entertaining & compelling MMO

Pros
Great in-game help system and players willing to help on in-game help channels, classless - you can train in any or all skills like crafting, tailoring, ranging, alchemy or melee combat, a large game world to explore with many NPCs and quests.
Cons
Like all online games, there are bad apples - players who make an effort to stand out in a negative light. They exist, but are not the majority or the norm. Also, this game takes a large time commitment to level skills.

Your time would be better spent reading.
Eldestgamer
Pros
It works on dial-up and has low system requirements.
Cons
The game has poor graphics and tedious gameplay. A very cliquish community.
Summary
Not for children :(
Elphinetta
Pros
Lots of different skills to learn, and you can learn all of them if you have the time. One of the advantages is that it is playable by both Linux and Mac systems.
Cons
I'm not a PK fan, and over the last year or so, the game is going more towards what the PK community wants. And sorry to say that is not my sort of fighting game. You do not need to kill other people to enjoy a game.
Summary
A dislike of the game is that some people (no names) in authority can be foulmouthed (typing) So not really a game to let the children play and have access to some of the public chat channels.
I Love This Game.
Jiglim
Pros
EL has many skills to level and have fun with (summoning, raning, a/d etc.. ), awesome community and it just is a great game to play.
Cons
leveling takes a bit time.
Summary
You got to try this game.
One of the top free MMORPGs
Requiem_EL
Pros
Good graphics and addicting in-depth gameplay, as well as good support and regular updates, not to mention the great community.
Cons
Long leveling process.
Summary
I have no reservations about calling this game one of the best free MMORPGs available, I would actually go so far as to rank it higher than many pay-to-play MMORPGs as well. Eternal Lands pretty much offers something for everyone.
