Efficient Diary is an attractive diary application that lets you record and organize diary entries in a variety of ways. The program's sleek design and useful features give it a definite edge over the traditional paper diary or alternatives like password-protected Word documents.

The program's interface is well organized and nice to look at, resembling the familiar Microsoft Outlook, and the built-in Help file is well written and thorough. You can customize your diary entries with a full range of colors, fonts, sizes, and effects. You can also insert images and attach documents to diary entries. You can select a header from a drop-down menu that reflects either your mood or the current weather. Entries can be organized into user-defined groups that are fully searchable, making it easy to find specific items from the past. We like that you can change the program's color scheme, allowing for a bit of personalization, and password protection certainly beats the old locking book cover of days past. Overall, we found Efficient Diary quite easy and pleasurable to use, both when it came to writing entries and managing them. The program isn't particularly heavy on features, but it offers all the important ones, and we can't think of glaring omissions. It's true that it doesn't support audio or video entries, which seem to be growing in popularity, but for a text-based diary, it's a great choice.

Efficient Diary is free. The program installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

A great diary app program.

Pros
Efficient Diary is very easy to use and very user friendly. It gives you the option to use password protection to keep unwanted people from reading your private diary entries. You can choose from a few different style designs to personalize the way the program looks for you (such as Pink, Black, Summer, Valentines ect..). You can make an unlimited amount of entries and organize them in different ways. And when making an entry it also gives you the option to add the weather for the day which it really good because weather has been known to affect your moods so you can keep track and see for your self if rainy days alter the way you are feeling at all.
Cons
The only cons that I can think of are that you are very limited in choosing which style design that you want to use unless you upgrade. And also that when using the weather option in your entries you have to choose the weather for yourself and that it doesn't give you the option to connect to the internet and use the actual current temperature and stuff.

Pros
Efficient Diary is great. It is user-friendly, very organized and secure. I love that I can set the password to be re-entered if I minimize the program. I highly recommend this product and have used it every day since I downloaded it.
Cons
My only con is that I wish I could categorize my entries into groups without upgrading. However, this program is good enough that I may choose to pay to upgrade anyways.

Thanks for the great software! It was tough to find a good diary/journal program before discovering Efficient Diary.

I really like this diary because it has several fun features like the state of the day whether it be cloudy, sunny and so forth. I can access it off line and write as much or as little as I like. I can also review what I've written.
Cons
none I can think of.
Summary
Worth the download. Especially if you like having a diary handy. It has a password protection so little brothers and sisters can't snoop too. Enjoy

The program doesn't save diary entries. As soon as you close the program everything youv'e written in it is gone. When you re-open the program and try to access entries youv'e made you just get a message saying the file has been locked by the program. The file exists, but the program won't give you permission to access any entries youv'e made.

I was looking for a proper diary software, not too comfy with the cloud versions. Efficient Diary seems to fit the bill for me thus far. I can create entries for previous dates, make changes to the present one, find a diary entry using search, and the best part --- it is password protected too :)

Data is stored in plain text. Their website and help file both say that your data is encrypted. I e-mailed the company asking about this, but I have not heard back from them yet.

It's great, if you don't need your data to be private. Yes, you have to have a password to open the diary from within the program, but anyone can just open the data file in a text editor and see everything you've written. Updated on Mar 7, 2012It looks like you can have it encrypt the files, but it's not the default and it's not obvious how to turn it on. Check the box under Tools->Options->Action Confirmation called "Prompt me to confirm encryption when closing a file". If you have this checked, then when you close the program, it will ask you if you want to encrypt your diary file. One other issue I noticed: The program never seems to completely quit. After I close it, if I look in the Task Manager, there is still a process called EfficientDiary.exe, using about 12 MB of memory. I noticed this because I was trying to delete the program's entire folder and it told me the files were still in use. I don't know what it's doing, but it makes me very suspicious that this could be some kind of malware.

You can sync data across PCs and mobile phones. With its unique and powerful flash full-text search technique, you can simply enter a word in the diary to quickly find the corresponding entries.
