No pros -- app is non functional and should be removed from CNET.
Cons
App is non-functional, at least on Mac OS X 10.9. Do not waste your time. It should not be on CNET.
Summary
Installed (which requires by-passing security by CTRL-Click in Finder). Per app on-screen instructions, dragged disk volume to test to input window. Pressed start test button. Nothing happens, no feedback, no error, no disk activity -- nothing.
Does this app really work?

Pros
Haven't seen the app do anything. See Cons for comment.
Cons
A simple help file or readme file accompanying the app in the zip file would have been nice. I dragged the volume to be tested to the area in the app as it suggest. And then clicked the 'Start Bench' button, and nothing happens. No action of the gear icon below the 'Start Bench' button, and no results of any kind. Looks like a dude of an app to me. I'd like to know how the other reviewer of this app got his/hers to work.
Summary
In summary, I really cannot rate this app simply because I do not know if it is complete and working. The file size of the app I downloaded is 146k bytes. Is that the correct size of the file, or do I have a partial file? Hopefully, someone (perhaps the author of the app) will check the file to see if it is correct and working.
Simple, easy disk transfer rate test

Pros
Easy to use, just drag the volume from finder to the app's window, press the only button and get your benchmark (transfer rate),
Cons
It has no glamourous touches, no bells, no whistles; nothing but what it says it will do. Actually, that's a plus. The product does one thing, and it delivers on the one thing.
Summary
Simple, easy, direct, and no nonsense. Like a one-word slide in a one-slide presentation: "Perfect"
