Editors' review

To use Shopkick, simply download the app, and fire it up whenever you're out shopping. Then, just by making supported purchases, scanning items, or even walking into featured retailers, you'll start earning "kickbucks," which can be redeemed for gift cards, free merchandise, and more. You can also earn kickbucks by "checking in" to specific commercials you're watching, or by sharing the app with friends.

The other half of Shopkick is the deals. Whenever you're in a featured store, be sure to check the app to see if any coupons are available. If there are, you can easily pull them up through the app and have the cashier scan them. As of now, Shopkick is supported mostly by big-box retailers, but we're hoping it adds smaller mom-and-pop shops to the mix soon.

To make things easy, Shopkick also lets you share deals with friends via Facebook, e-mail, or SMS, and keep a Favorites list for stores you visit often. But you have to register your name, e-mail address, and phone number in order to unlock all of it's features.

What's great about Shopkick is that it's a coupon app and a rewards app rolled into one. It's supereasy to use, and it even adds a fun gaming element to shopping. For shopaholics, we highly recommend this download, especially during the holidays.

    "Scam Company!"

    March 17, 2014   |   By srios79

    Version: shopkick 2.3.3

    Pros

Can be fun to do when you're bored if you aren't banned for NO reason!

    Cons

Shopkick bans people for no reason. I have my theories why (scams). I'll keep those theories to myself. My friend was banned last week for absolutely no reason. He sent multiple emails to shopkick for a resolution and answers. All of his emails were ignored. Two days ago I sent them an email on his behalf expressing my disappointment in how they ignore this honest and faithful users and concens. This morning shopkick responded by banning me also. Shopkick is fun until the powers that be decide they want you out! And they WILL ban you eventually. I'm extremely disappointed with them. My friend and I were 100% honest in our walk-ins and our scans. Their faulty systems caused some sort of an issue which got my friend banned; however, their own lack of user appreciation by completely ignoring us when problems and concerns happen is what I'm most saddened by. Their business practice of ignoring the problem and penalizing honest users is both poor business practice and bad ethics.

    Summary

Shopkick doesn't have any user interest in mine. They just care for themselves. They're an awful company with terrible business ethics. You don't have to believe me now; but remember what I wrote when you DO get banned for doing absolutely nothing.

    "USED TO be good"

    January 05, 2014   |   By JM2014

    Version: shopkick 2.3.3

    Pros

if you don't get falsely banned, you can get a gift card from $5-$25 every month.

    Cons

In the past couple months, they have begun banning people, falsely claiming they are cheating. They refuse to say why. They have a vague rule about 'scanning too fast' (like people are running through stores scanning?) Legitimately traveling gets people banned. Scanning at OshGosh/Carter's triggers bans. Also there is a lot of 'glitches' where the scans don't work. Another issue is that sometimes products are not nationwide..and aren't in most stores..THERE IS NO APPEAL PROCESS...they just tell you to take a hike. Sure there are some people who are cheating..so it seems that SK is just randomly banning people to make it look like they are stopping cheating..but most people are innocent.

    Summary

Use at your own risk....don't go out of your way to get points..they could be taken from you for no reason.

    "Waste of time"

    January 18, 2013   |   By jyves974

    Version: shopkick 2.3.3

    Pros

Ok product. use it. Get your kicks and run.

    Cons

    Do not link your card.
Not rewarding at all. You need to go at least 15 times to the same store to get a $2 discount at target, for example
Don't waste your time on scanning. Most products are not available or cannot be scanned.
Kicks on walking is not reliable. You don't always get them.
having an issue? Do not contact them. They won't care and will close your request after 4 dames. They'll ask you places, date and exact time you went there and it did not work. If you can't answer that or return to the store to recheck again within 4 days, they'll dismiss your request.

    Summary

A great idea, an amateurish team. They claim o value customers. In fact, they value pride instead of quality

"A lot of effort to get points"

    August 21, 2012   |   By sgtpeppers33

    Version: shopkick 2.3.3

    Pros

    Makes a fun shopping experience

    Cons

difficult to earn points in that you have to go to a store.

    Summary

I like ShopKick when I get easy opportunities! Being in between jobs has not been easy and I really enjoy doing the missions for some of the other guys. My favorite newbie is iPoll. I have it on my iPhone and my wife on her android.

Just yesterday, I got to do some really cool things for the Olympics at a local restaurant! Last week I went on a secret mission into a Target store and snapped a picture of a yoplait yogurt. The company is pretty good about catching cheaters so be careful!

All in all I have made $480 on iPoll and but only points for rewards on ShopKick.

A couple others that I downloaded and am starting to use lately; Gigwalk and CheckPoints! Some missions, discounts, no real cash rewards either
