I do not know
I click Win7 for software and downloaded and installed it without checking that this software is for XP and below. That is why I could not use it and it did not allow my to change the setting to be use in an older version.
I am looking for a "free" software to transfer my iPod 3G to my new computer. I will do it the old fashion way...less headaches.
Updated on Mar 12, 2012
it does not work anymore, i had it working perfectly until apple's last software update for my iPod, i get the message "iCan export couldnt ready the iPod database..."
Fast & easy install.
Select your files and it transfers them very quickly to the PC
Selecting files requires you to click another button as well as highlighting them in the listing.
It copies all the music files to your seleted folder. Make sure you select the ipod drive and the export to drive and file. I disconnected when it froze. Froze again I though but I left it. All the files did copy and it said complete. I did 2,900 songs.
Freezes on the file copy counter but still copies files. Be patient. If it really does freeze, restart the program and redo your "ipod directory" and "export to" file. Otherwise you get an error and it can be confusing and scary but you do not loose what is on the ipod. Need to rename files. Still have to recheck the tags and album covers. Wish me luck.
Great program. Really easy to use. Allows you to have backups of your files in different computers, transport music from one to another.
Might seem frozen with while large transfers but the program keeps running - just have to wait.
Aside that, excellent
Works great for copying off your library from your iPod. To select your entire library or a big chunk use the shift and Ctrl keys. Display freezes during big transfers, but the program is NOT frozen! It will unfreeze when the copy operation is complete. You can monitor the progress in the target folder window. Just remember to open it before starting the transfer.
Program is totally free!
Display freezes during big transfers.........but the program isn't frozen!
The software rendered my ipod unusable...
i suggest you use all caution if you choose to use this product... And ask yourself, is it worth it?
For me, i had no other choice and thought that this product would work... i was wrong and now i want to cry!(
so this program is simple, you can pretty much figure out how to use it on your own.
Note that it does have a tendency to freeze; it froze twice for me. The first time I force closure of it thru ctrl alt dlt but then the second time I had the folder open where all the music was copying to (which you get to specify) and noticed it was copying even though the program window was froze blank.
In other words, it still continues to work (or it did for me) even though it appears to be frozen.
+ no adware
And all the things above people said!!
(except the ones that didnt figure out the selecting large amounts of songs, lol. HOLD DOWN SHIFT!!)
WHY PAY MONEY FOR THIS SIMPLE TASK!!!
HAIL THIS SOFTWARE PROGRAMMER! YOU PWN!
Sorry I couldn't figure out how to get line returns in here! I tried!
Very good, the only fully free software that I could find to effectivly rip music from an iPod.
Note: make sure you 'enable disk use' on the ipod you wish to rip from to ensure the program can detect the ipod.
- select copy location
- copy entire library or individual files
- choose file name format
- quick to download and install (less than 2 mins)
- no adverts/spyware
Overall - brilliant
doesn't save settings when the program is closed
Works find for the most part when you are just trying to get a few songs off of your ipod.
There is no "select all" feature so when you want to select all of the songs it is a long task. Also when exporting lots of songs (30-40+) It will often freeze halfway through at which point you need to restart the program and start over.

Can 'select all' indirectly by clicking the first colum heading, thus highlighting all entries, then click the 'select/unselect' icon in the bottom left of the screen (this button is small and hard to read).
I copied 679 files in one go, the program does appear to freeze and was even registering as 'not responding' but was still copying fine. Just be patient, it took about 7-8mins to copy 679 files.
Program is basic but i would highly recommend it. Only downside is that settings are not saved when the program is closed.
