Editors' review

This freeware application lets you upload your favorite files to an online account, as long as you don't exceed 1GB with all of your items. eSnips is a companion for a Web site of the same name and you'll need to create a free account on the site before getting started. The program writes to the system tray and you can go directly to your account on the Web site with a left-click or open a small interface from the right-click menu. You'll find links to help you select and upload Web pages, files, photos, and videos, or use the built-in tool to capture screenshots. The last of the six icons is My eSnips, which lets you add personal information to your online account profile. We like the links to get more information, but it proved easier to access each of the tools. Internet Explorer users can add a toolbar to the browser window that offers the same functionality. This user-friendly application can help anyone upload files to an eSnips.com account.

    "noxious garbage"

    March 26, 2011   |   By csttte

    Version: eSnips 1.105

    Pros

I got the file I wanted, but only by installing and running this thing in a "quarantine" virtual machine I have set up specifically to test bombs like this for malware and virii. I'm glad I didn't run it on my actual computer.

    Cons

I've tried my hardest not to compare this thing to AIDS, but I guess I just failed. Other reviews describing what exactly it does to your system and personal data is accurate.

    Summary

I was moved to write this review not because of the program itself. Trash like this is business as usual for the net.

What alarms me is the head-scratchingly high editor's ratings. This sort of oversight reflects poorly on what I've always viewed as a somewhat reliable guide to whether I'm downloading a useful tool or a live grenade.

I didn't let this thing damaged my system or the integrity of my personal data, but it has sadly damaged my faith in this and other sites to warn users about dangerous software.

"This is not a software. This is a malware."

    October 17, 2010   |   By mechgouki

    Version: eSnips 1.105

    Pros

Nothing. If you consider unauthorized modification to your Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers' settings having everything changed, such as your homepage and your default search, to everything about Esnips, then yes, this would be a con.

    Cons

My personal experience, the download that I tried could not work. In short, I got nothing out of this.

But that's the least of my concerns.

This is not just a software, this is a MALWARE!

    Summary

What this software does is nothing short of malware. It does not seek your permission, and it changes most of your settings in Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. These changes include the starting homepage, search sites, etc.

I guess they forgot to include the fine print: "Warning, software will attempt to take over your life."

If I wanted such an intrusive change on my browsers, I would have asked for it.

In short, if you like a software that does unauthorized and intrusive changes to your browers, than go for this.

If not, I suggest you steer clear, and never touch it. Whatever Esnips or their software promised you, IT IS NOT WORTH IT!

"This **** wants access to FF passwords & has SPYWARE"

    October 04, 2010   |   By esnipssucks

    Version: eSnips 1.105

    Pros

Nothing. Its just a piece of crap without a proper uninstaller which wants to communicate with their servers to pass on secretly the private data from users system and also the bookmakrs, passwords and other data from Firefox and IE. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.

    Cons

Everything is ****. PURE ****. SPYWARE and WANTS ACCESS TO YOUR BANKING PASSWORDS AND READS YOUR REGISTRY AND SENDS TO eSnips. THIS PIECE OF CRAP ***********.

    Summary

Nothing. Its just a piece of crap without a proper uninstaller which wants to communicate with their servers to pass on secretly the private data from users system and also the bookmakrs, passwords and other data from Firefox and IE. DO NOT DOWNLOAD. DO NOT DOWNLOAD IF YOU VALUE YOUR PRIVACY AND SECURITY.

"ESNIPS has stopped users downloading songs...."

    December 07, 2007   |   By rakeshganju

    Version: eSnips 1.105

    Cons

    Hello!

I am sure what has been done in ESNIPS is affecting many of the other users in esnips. About 80% of the users of esnips have been downloading the songs and if the same is disabled then what remains the difference between esnips and smashits or anyother online site.

So, please try to get esnips back the same way as it was couple of days back.

If you think I am not speaking sense then try to go for voting for the same and lets go with the results.

    Regards

    Rock

"Great Prgram, except for beta limitations"

    January 04, 2007   |   By ryanseeley

    Version: eSnips 1.105

    Pros

Great program. Works easily, even providing for use with right mouse click.

    Cons

I would like to see the beta restrictions lifted (i.e. individual 50 MB file size limitation and 500 total files per upload). Also, it would be great to see it have a network drive client allowing drag and drop functionality.
