Version: XnView DeLuxe 2.15
"CNET has the wrong link to the owners site"
Pros: The correct link is xnview.com which provides screenshots and better details on exactly what this does. I wont try anything w/out a member's review, one with a "history" of reviews, lol.
Cons: CNET provides no info or contact to this owners site so I was afraid to download it. The link CNET provides took me to a search page which sent up several browser security warnings.

Version: XnView DeLuxe 2.15
"Appears to be a rip-off of the REAL xnView!"
Cons: I have used the real thing for several years and LOVE it. This version appears to be an IP hi-jack. All links lead to ad and spy sites. I would proceed with extreme caution here. If you want the real thing, try version 1.9x. If this is by the same author, I am concerned about the "sell out". However, I don't think this is legit.

Pros: XnView will most likely satisfy even the most discriminating graphic designer, and digital imaging enthusiast. Whether you choose the freeware version, or the spectacular payware version, you will not be disappointed.
Readers unfamiliar with this product: please don't be misled by commentary re: 'irfanview and xnview' as they are truly dissimilar. the IrfanView author has expressed publicly his disgruntled sentiment regarding XnView, and has likely influenced such negative XnView reviews.
Try the software. Make your own decisions about quality, but please don't score the software based on irrelevant, author bias. Users rely upon meaningful reviews should note that this software score has been skewed by a user who rated XnView Deluxe, apparently, based on the quality of an erroneous download.com URL
Cons: Alpha channel support; user customization options for PNG alpha channel (and other file formats, such as ICO, BMP, GIF, etc., which might contain 'transparent' areas). XnView does produce quality exported images with alpha channel, but the user may find that he or she must experiment more than expected to acheive the desired alpha channel result.
