CNET Editors' review
Whether you are trying to monitor your productivity or wanting to accurately bill clients, there are many times we wish someone tracked us with a stopwatch. WorkTime attempts to be that and more as this innovative system measures a collection of different activities on the computer.
This download presents itself as a small box that discreetly tucks itself into the bottom corner of your desktop. Once activated, a clock begins to tick. There are drop-down menus for users who want to differentiate their time among separate users, projects, or activities. A handful of colorful icons allow users to look at options and reports, and stop and start the program. WorkTime really comes to life when its reports are opened. The report window showcases everything you have been doing on the computer. Users can view their productivity three different ways, either through the calendar, a spreadsheet-like grid, or a bar chart. We were able to very easily divide up our projects. Users will find the various reports looking at overall data analysis, program utilization, and how long users focused on a specific project helpful for getting a clearer picture of their usage.
Users will have more than enough time to get acquainted with the program with its 30-day trial period. We recommend this program for those looking to keep a closer eye on their work life.

Version: WorkTime 4.06
Pros
Lots of features, pretty flexible in tracking everything computer related. Really like the export feature.

"Simple, but powerful"
Version: WorkTime 3.16.7
Pros
This program does a great job balancing features and simplicity. This will track how much time you spend by project and even within that time period, it tracks what files/programs you are working on. And it does it with a tiny main interface window.
The tiny timer window can be left open all day without getting in the way. The timer can be started or the project changed instantly.
For tracking the files/programs you're using you can change the time requirement from 1 second to 10 minutes so that it won't track files that you've only briefly opened. Yes, it tracks Internet browser time as well.
The timer can also be set (1 to 100 Min.) so that if the keyboard/mouse is idle for a period of time it'll pause. This way, if you run off to lunch or an unrelated meeting you won't have to manually subtract how much time you think it was. It can also pause if the screen saver starts.
You can put different hourly rates for projects, which I use to estimate long distance call expenses.
The statistics are very informative and have ones I never thought I needed until I saw them. Time by day and week, time by project, bar and line charts for the same stats, tables of projects with programs/files and time, and pie charts of time usage.
There's a spy mode, which allows you to track employee's or your children's stats, but I'm unfamiliar with the features.
Cons
Not as many features as other programs, but I wouldn't ask for anything to be added.

"Easy and simple tool"

"WorkTime is absolutely amazing. This is my #1 software recommendation!!"
Version: WorkTime 3.16.3
Pros
I've tried about 10 similar programs and none of them can even remotely compare to the quality of Work Time. I use it every day, have for years and can't recommend it enough.
If you want one application that truly tracks the time you spend on client projects then you owe it to yourself to download this program right now.
The printable reports are awesome and track the work you do in amazing detail.
In seconds I can see exactly how many hours I've worked every day, week, month or year! PLUS, by entering your hourly rate in advance, you can see exactly how much money you've earned up to the second. If you do a lot of freelance work for different clients just create a new work project for each client and you'll never have to manually try to keep track of project time again!
One of the biggest benefits is... when you're using Work Time you NEVER need to be "second guessed" by anyone you do work for. If they're asking you what you worked on, for how long or hedge at the amount of time you say the freelance project took, just print off a Work Time report and fax it to them! They'll never second guess you again because it'll show them every single detail, every file name, every application you opened and used on their project along with the time spent on each file and program.
It's a gem of an application and I love it!
Cons
There are none. It's amazing!
