This program is an interesting, if somewhat tricky, word-puzzle editor. After a swift installation, you launch Word Search Designer to start creating your own puzzles. The software has a detailed tutorial, and a small guide window appears as you create a puzzle. There's no step-by-step wizard, though, so it might take a new user some time to figure out how to use the program. Rendering the puzzle occurs in seconds, and you can print it out to keep your children or students busy. Die-hard word search fans, teachers, and parents should enjoy Word Search Designer.

Features include a timer, hints, an "as you type" word editor, a duplicate locator, a find-word pattern, color schemes, and various levels of difficulty. There also is a facility for printing out the puzzles so you can solve them without a computer or give them to friends and family members.
