June 23, 2014  |  By Not-My-Problem

 |  Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Pros

GET RID OF THIS TEN CHARACTER THINGY.

Cons

Link invalid
Misleading button
Misleading title
Misleading description

Summary

Thanks, you professional company you, for publishing a fake download just to get ad revenue. It barely seems true! Why would Microsoft even upload a copy of their OS for people to pirate?

"Total rubbish!"

December 16, 2013  |  By jonn0

 |  Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Pros

There are none.

Cons

Cnet, just like every other download site, has become synonymous with the word CON. From day one on the Internet, download sites like Cnet, try to fool you with big green buttons, into downloading a download manager or some other software you do not want. Usually they make the download link difficult to see or find.

This download for media center has brought them into another category completely... i.e. the category of "we don't give a ****", we just want you to click a link so we, (Cnet), can make some money with Microsoft, and screw you the internet user.

This user will not be visiting Cnet again. You should do the same.

Summary

Waste of time guys, there is no download to be had on this page.

"MS is rotten"

May 18, 2012  |  By richiew1963

 |  Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Pros

for this, NONE

Cons

MS says, "Windows XP Media Center Edition is a version of the Windows XP operating system and is no longer being sold." so why not let us have it??? all they want is for us to upgrade operating systems to make more money, like they really need it...

Summary

my respect for MS just dropped really low. somewhere on the internet someone has it and i'm gonna find it...

"Where is it???????????????"

March 22, 2011  |  By bryang2k3

 |  Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Pros

None, the download does not exist.

Cons

The download does not exist. Micro$oft won't let you get a good copy of windows, they only let you get what they want. Vista sucks, and 7 ain't much better.

Summary

I don't know what the hell is wrong with cnet but this should be removed.

I ran 7 for a couple of months and found too many things missing that XP has and didn't like the features it had, most are useless.

MS says media center don't work with XP, you have to install win 7, but Windows XP media center edition has media center so why can't I get a copy of media center for my copy of XP pro?? STUPID MS

"Please Remove this Link to WMC"

February 23, 2011  |  By rake69

 |  Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Pros

I kinda Like it on my W7 Machine...

Cons

CNET Sucks for misleading us to think we can download WMC for XP, I give CNET one star because I cannot give them ZERO stars.

Summary

Their are other media center softwares that support the "standard" video file formats, unlike WMC, which only generates WTV files, then needs to be converted to view by most ALL TVs

"no link to product"

February 02, 2010  |  By jc364

 |  Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Pros

None, since the product cannot be downloaded.

Cons

The name of this download is "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005". However, if you click "Download Now", all you see is a link to upgrade to Windows 7, to "enjoy the latest on Windows Media Center."

Summary

The bottom line is that if you want to download Windows Media Center, even the XP version of Windows Media Center, you are going to have to upgrade to Windows 7. And the only reason I can think of is that Microsoft wants your money.
