"Two major bugs, one is crippling"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
You get (most of) the mail features from Outlook Express and (most of) the calendar features from Outlook - but there are gaps and bugs
Cons
Bug #1 (deadly): when auto-forwarding mail to other (in Message Rules), the forwarded mail doesn't identify the original sender's name or email address. This is and outrageous omission, which forces the user to forward mail manually when it's necessary to pass on this information.
Bug #2 (irritating, but there is a workaround): Group email addresses (WLM calls these "Category Contacts") don't work when sending mail. You can insert these anywhere into your address lists (To, CC, or BCC), BUT (a) they don't work and (b) they don't say they don't work. The workaround is to go to Contacts, Edit your Category list, grab the whole range of individual addresses; then paste these into the desired address list area of your (new or whatever) email. This has the sole advantage of letting you select a subset of your Category Contact set, but overall is tedious and annoying.
Bug #3 (the Calendar doesn't let me set reminders. The functionality appears present in the ribbon control, but is disabled.Summary
So, this is an 80-90% implementation of functionality Microsoft has offered in other products fro many years. There is no excuse for its lameness.

"Display small & cluttered, hard to modify any features"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
Downloaded years of all my many emails I had in Outlook Express & Contacts fairly completely and fairly quickly. My contacts had 2 folders in Outlook, in LiveMail it put them all into one folder, but fortunately preserved the order so that the contents of each folder weren't mixed, one was after the other. Not great, but reasonable.
Cons
Awful display layout. There only 2 real layout display settings (they make it look like more, but the display is only 2). One of the 2 layouts makes it so that the headline of each email is so light it's hard to read, so I had to make a rule for all emails to come in bolded. One of the layouts gives you only 10 messages to view at a time, so few it feels overwhelming to sort through daily email, the other one gives you 24, but either way it looks cluttered and hard to read and sort through. There's one flag and one watching conversation option to mark emails, but no tags. So unlike Thunderbird, you can only have 2 colors to identify email types or those to keep track of. I tried to change this using a number of rules, but the rules never worked. At that point I found it pointless to spend more time trying to figure out how to make this work: It's not user friendly and you can't control the appearance & function without a lot of effort.
Daily startup is slow, as others have said.Summary
If you want a simple Desktop email program and don't care much about modifying it, and are fine with this one being far more basic than others, this seems to work fine. But it does seem far behind other email options.
Forgot to mention when composing an email, there is good thing and one bad. The interface for using photos in an email is terrific, the best I've seen, you can crop and modify any of your photos nicely. What's bad are the stationary design templates, very ugly designs, however you can create your own. Since I don't like the layouts nor the unuser friendliness of the program, I'm seeking a different email desktop provider.
If you like the layout and don't need to modify it, and don't need colored tags or labels, you can like it. I don't like it at all.

"The older version is better. Thank you Jesus Christ."
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
Microsoft Windows Mail is simpler and less buggy than Microsoft Windows Live Mail 2011.
Cons
Jesus Christ! Good attempt to pack with features, however, too many sluggishness because of the complicated features.
Summary
Microsoft updated Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail 2011. Thanks to Jesus Christ, I still have the old version........ If you get the chance, I would say thank you to Microsoft either way because it is free. They work hard and if it is buggy because it is full featured then they tried to do something for you! Anyways, I am just providing feedback like everyone else. This new version is lagging a bit at times. However, I appreciate the effort and it is noticeable that Microsoft made the newer version full featured!! I am lucky that the old version still works

"I use it for a basic email account. No problems at all."
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
Allows me to easily hook up to my Windows Live account to obtain software downloads, game apps, etc.
Cons
I haven't noticed any so far.
-
"Slow, slow, slow!"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
Looks nice, when it eventually starts.
Cons
Gets slower with every iteration. I'm using a cleanly installed PC (without crapware), Microsoft Security Essentials, on an Inter i7!!!!!! WLM is so SLOW!!!!
Summary
Double click the Windows Live Mail icon. Then go and make yourself a cup of Coffee. Ensure you put cold water in the coffee machine, so the water doesn't warm up too quickly. Use Coffee Beans and not ready ground Coffee, as this will delay the process a bit. Grind your Beans and be sure to warm and froth your Milk. At this point bake some Muffins, wait until they are cooked, then eat them. At this point you should find Windows Live Mail just in the process of showing the Inbox and you can get going.

"This version is extremely buggy"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
It kept track of multiple emails well and interfaced nicely with Facebook.
Cons
Extremely slow start-up, strange anomalies and random lock-ups and the uninstall process was so glacial that I opted for a complete Window reinstall instead of waiting for a non-responsive process.
Summary
It is not ready for prime-time. 4 thumbs down.

"Lots of bugs in 2012 version"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
Barely OK for basic useage.
Cons
Scroll wheel doesn't work properly if set to scroll 1 page at a time; if using Bcc and put a category name from address book in the Bcc window, these people do not get the email (this worked fine in 2011 version and has been reported widely on the net); If using the delete button and trying to delete a hyperlink from an email, program crashes. Those are the main problems that I can think of. BTW, if you want the Bcc problem to go away, the only way I could find was to uninstall WL Essentials 2012 and re-install WL Essentials 2011.
Summary
Get your act together M$! This is not acceptable to release such a poorly tested program unless indicated as a RC or Beta version. Hopefully Windows 8 isn't the same quality as WLM 2012!

"Very disappointing"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
It came with my laptop
Cons
Can't change the colour of the page!
Can't view contacts, when you press contacts it is just a blank page. Ridiculous.Summary
Boring, very basic, not for anyone creative.
-
"Easy to use and imports from windows mail easily."
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
It is easy to use, accesses multiple accounts with little effort, it allows for online and on computer mail storage. Calendar is decent and nice to have in same program. Contacts are easily added and edited and groups are very easy to develop.
Cons
Slow, slow, slow...... Morning routine is boot my computer, start windows live mail, then go do something else for 10 to 15 minutes, and hopefully it will be done setting up when I get back. After startup the program is great. The computer is unusable during this startup period for any purpose other than as a paper weight.
Summary
Fix the startup issues and I'd give it 5 stars. Great program provided you have patience!
-
"Can't even access it properly with out it crashing!"
Version: Windows Live Mail 16.4.3505
Pros
There are None!
Cons
Do not use it anymore because I cannot access it!
Summary
I had it installed with with Windows when I got my computer in 2008 and ever since then I have been unable to use the program properly! I have tried every fix Microsoft gave me, but still nothing has helped! Do not know if it is an interference with Internet Explorer, Yahoo Mail, Microsoft Essentials Security, Or one of the other programs on my computer. but for some reason it does not operate properly and tends to crash! If they ever get it right and fix it, I will use it, but if not I will never use it again!
