CNET Editors' review
As far as file encryption programs go, this one may not look like much, but it worked better than most of the programs we've encountered.
WinXAR has a simple, easy to navigate user interface. It consists of a toolbar and command buttons across the top of the window, and file folders at the bottom. The program lets you encrypt, decrypt, test, rename, and shred files all from the toolbar. When we put the program to the test, the process proved to be easy to follow. After selecting a file, and selecting the encryption button, you simply enter a password. It also gave us the option of renaming and testing the encrypted file, as well as the option to delete and/or shred the selected file. We tested each option, and the program performed as promised. We took the same encrypted file and selected the decryption option. Again, the program worked perfectly.
The 30-day trial period is plenty of time to experience all that this program has to offer. We highly recommend WinXAR for all users looking for a file encryption program. It cleanly uninstalled from our computer.
