Webbla is an application for Mac OS X Leopard that helps you in organizing your bookmarks visually. It also offers you an easy way to keep track of website updates and support Spotlight, Cover Flow and Quick Look. Instead of remembering your bookmarks by title, Webbla gives you a new way to remember them visually. Personalizing your bookmarks with tags or keeping them in different categories will help you to come back to them easily. Define your own shortcuts to add bookmarks from your web browser to Webbla. Customizable web browser scripts make it easy to open bookmarks in different ways with all applications supporting AppleScript. Over standard html bookmark files you can import and export your bookmarks to and from Camino, Firefox, OmniWeb, Opera, Safari and more.
A bookmark manager that mimics iTunes and iPhoto? Sound great.
Cons
App constantly consumes 100% CPU and I have to "Force Quit" to get my fans to turn off.
Summary
A great idea for a product that would be stellar if they could iron out the bugs.
Works great for me

Pros
Read some of the other reviews about crashing but so far I have not experienced any. Then again, those reviews are back 3-4 years ago.... I'm using 1.6.1 and it's rock stable. I leave tons of tabs open in Safari and after every few weeks, I move those tabs into Webbla so that I can still see the sites without having them open
Cons
I would definitely like to see some searching capabilities because I have hundreds and hundreds of sites saved. Right now, I have no clue on what many of the bookmarks are of. Also there is no way to sort the bookmarks by some kind of criteria
Summary
Overall it works but there aren't too many bells and whistles
WEBBLA BAD CRASH ZONE PRODUCT
mimby
Pros
EXCELLENT CONCEPT - VISUAL BOOKMARKS SEPARATE FROM WEB BROWSER
Cons
This program stalls and crashes 9 out of 10 usages. The block seems to be when opened, the app first has to re-build your entire list of bookmarked sites' icons. This takes too long, the app hangs.
Summary
Don't buy. The aggravation will spoil your day. Too bad. Nice idea.
Consistently Crash Prone

Pros
Nice idea.
Cons
Consistently crash prone
Summary
I have tried through a series of versions of Webbla to get it to work, have reported problems to their tech support without any resolution. I have never been able to get past the process where Webbla attempts to create icons for all of my bookmarks. Tech support provided no solution. This program is easily the most crash prone I have encountered for Mac OS X. I can't use it and I can't recommend it to anyone. Until such time as Webbla is rewritten to become a usable program, I have deleted it from my computer.
Great GUI, but needs work!

Happy New Year! So, I broke down and bought Webbla. If I'm being totally honest, I think it's a three star app at best, but I *LOVE* the GUI and really want to support your ongoing development. I have no doubt that it can and will mature into a five star product.
I've made a number of suggestions in the past - and all of them stand. I want a better tag cloud. I want the ability to EXCLUDE bookmarks with certain tags via a command key (ie: shift click a tag to exclude). Collections don't interest me at all. I'd like the ability to toggle between the Collections and Tag views, or better yet, hide Collections altogether. But I've said all this before and I appreciate your listening.
In the meantime, there are two, in my opinion, SERIOUS issues that need to be addressed:
First, where is the trash? When I delete a bookmark, Webbla does not ask for confirmation, nor is there a trash where I can retrieve deleted bookmarks. This makes accidentally deleting a bookmark VERY easy. Please add trash functionality!!!
Second, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add some sort of "Activity Monitor" for when Webbla is processing bookmarks. I still have two bookmarks that Webbla can't process (I contacted you about this a few weeks ago). Webbla gets stuck and keeps bringing the main Webbla window to the front, even if I'm in another application and have Webbla minimized. This is REALLY ANNOYING and makes using Webbla nearly impossible.
Furthermore, one of the web pages I have bookmarked (I can't figure out which one!) appears to play a sound when loaded. Webbla just repeats this sound over and over and over and over again. I have to mute my computer while Webbla is running because I can't figure out which bookmark is making the noise. Again, VERY ANNOYING!!!!!!! Webbla should NOT play sounds from a web page. I don't even understand why this happens. There's absolutely no point to it.
Webbla NEEDS to do a better job of letting the user know what it is doing and allow the user to cancel certain actions. If Webbla gets "stuck" processing a bookmark, there should be some indication of WHICH bookmark is the problem. And the audio thing is just plain irritating. If I can't figure out which bookmark is causing this problem, I can't really use Webbla because I'm not willing to mute my computer for the sake of a bookmark manager.
Thanks for listening. Best wishes and must success in 2009!
Can't import anything!!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've tried 1.0 and now 1.0.1 -- and so far I haven't been able to import any kind of bookmarks...! I exported from Safari, I exported from Firefox, I tried altering the names and contents, whatever I try, all I get is ""Bookmarks.html" is not a valid bookmark file."!?!?
<p>
So why would I consider paying for an app when the most standard of it's features is such a hassle to begin with...?!
Nice idea!
