"Instructions poor"
Version: VirtualHostX 3.1.2
Pros
Looks simple
Cons
With no instructions (unless you know what to search for) it is impossible to troubleshoot. I found some websites that had hints but they didn't work. It is amazing that something intended to be user friendly leaves you so in the dark. Even their website seems to lack any information. I find it amazing it is either not there or hidden away so well it can't be found. Very Poor.

"Could be good, who knows"
Version: VirtualHostX 2.2
Pros
None that I know of.
Cons
No Documentation
Summary
Here is the thing. This could be good software. I can't tell be cause I haven't gotten it to work for me.
I've set up Apache virtual web hosting on Mac OS X before, by hand, so I kind of know what I'm doing. I have set up name based virtual hosting on port 80 for multiple sites, but for some reason I'm not able to get it working with this product.
From the input fields it looks like I can set up name based virtual hosts, or port based virtual hosts, but when I set up a couple of virtual hosts on port 80, it also set them up on port 9000 and 9001. I have no idea why? I was also surprised that I had to manually edit the httpd.conf file to uncomment the include for virtual-hosts. Something I would think the software would check.
I guess the bottom line is a little documentation would go a long ways to making this useful. -

Works with Leopard's Apache2 and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Clean cocoa interface, good price. Great little app! -
"Makes Life Much Easier"
Version: VirtualHostX 1.0.5
Summary

This application is indispensable for any web designer or developer that builds websites that utilize the Apache server on OS X. Setting up vhosts on your localhost is an excellent way to build and test websites before they get deployed to the live production server. This program, simply put, makes my life a lot easier when setting up vhosts on my computer. -
