The remake of this classic speech-based adventure game retains all the challenge and charm of the original. In Valhalla Classics Episode One: The Crypt, you control a young prince who must solve puzzles and negotiate various obstacles in order to escape the castle. You'll rapidly figure out how to navigate the maze, examine objects, and pick up keys and potions. The fact that your character gives you talking hints provides extra guidance. The graphics are decent enough, and we thought the music helped to create an atmosphere of suspense. However, the ability to play in full-screen mode would help make the game even more engrossing. While we're on the subject of configuration, we should note that the game doesn't really offer any customization options, but the ability to save your quest at any point makes up for the lack of features. Since this game is loads of fun and totally free, we suggest Valhalla Classics Episode One: The Crypt as a good choice for just about anyone looking for a thought-provoking way to kill time.

"Amazingly great fun game from the masters at Vulcan"

Pros
Absolutly great to see the game trilogy to be updated and converted to the PC, keeps the faith to the original Amiga versions although lacks the intros. Graphics and sound have been enhanced to 800x600x16bit graphics and 16bit audio. Levels are almost identical to the Amiga versions but still just as fun.
Cons
Would love to see this game on mobiles and tablets and maybe back to where it started on AmigaOS
Summary
I am a strong follower of Vulcan Software and played many of their games during their time developing for the Amiga and their latest PC conversions. I've read the comments below stating that keycodes have not been sent to users, this I can now comfirm must of changed, as I personally ordered a keycode on 16th December 2011 and received it via email in the early hours of 19th December 2011(so estimate of 50hours thou it was a weekend).
What ever happened in the past years must of been resolved, their website is currently being overhauled(yet I still received my code) so things are looking up. I hope to see Vulcan living long, and Prospering in the future. -

I read here that many people hadn't recieved their keycodes, a main explanation being that Vulcan Software owners were having real life issues etc. Apparently they have resolved these issues, as I have recieved my keycodes approximately 30 hours after submitting.

i have paid for keycodes 2 , 3 ,4 and am now taking a big dislike to vulcan software as they have debited my account but have not sent the keycodes.I emailed every address i could find for vulcan including paul caringtons email ,but alas no reply.

None, but if you are looking for fast paced action, this is not the game for you.

If you like this type of first person adventure this a a good download. Little prince navigates the dungeon in search of clues and magical objects to complete his quest. Just remember to save your game before entering new chambers or you could remain alive but trapped and have to start all over!

Like the others here, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to buy all the keycodes to play the rest of the series. What a mistake that was. It's been lmost a week and no keycodes. No reply to emails. NOTHING. DO NOT BUY. Reccomend people contact their local trading authority.
