There's not a whole lot to this simplistic pop-up blocker, which is free but rendered unnecessary by the standard features found in most toolbars and browser programs. VSPopUp's amateurish interface consists of a pull-down menu and a status icon that shows if it's turned off or on.

It offers basic pop-up blocking and the ability to create a list of sites permitted to run pop-ups. There's no help file, so there's no information on what impact the simple slider bar has moving it from Normal to Block All. That is, if the slider bar actually worked. Unfortunately, it didn't move at all for our testers. There's only one additional option to block ActiveX dialogs.

With so few options, the fact that one doesn't work keeps this off our list of recommended apps. Stick with your existing pop-up blockers or give a more fully functional application a test.

Also it does not close all new windows as they occur. It uses the smart identification engine, which recognizes real pop-up windows and closes them automatically, and it can kill ActiveX dialogs too. It fits in your Internet Explorer toolbar. Version 1.1.0.3 supports Vista.
