Its embedded meta search engine makes VDownloader different from other download managers. It searches at the same time in the most popular video sites so you will easily find the video you were looking for. Another strong point is the amount of different output formats: It can download and save videos in: AVI, MPG, MP4, iPhone-iPod, PSP, 3GP for mobile phones, DVD-VCD, MP3 (extracting audio from videos). VDownloader is also a powerful video converter with multilingual support (English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Czech, Slovak and Japanese.

Version 0.83 fixes problems with YouTube titles and DailyMotion videos.

Despite the lack of user guidance, this video-file downloader is easy to set up and use. VDownloader's interface is on the plain side and no Help file is offered, but it shouldn't take most users long to get the hang of downloading videos from their favorite sites.

The interface contains four large icons: Download, Search, Browser, and Settings. By default, VDownloader is set to monitor the clipboard when it's running, so as soon as we copied the link to a video, the program responded and asked us for Save As information. It's a small thing, but some programs don't allow you to choose a file name up front and it can be hard (without opening each file) to know what video you've downloaded if the file name is auto-assigned. The download began immediately after choosing the file name and location. You also can change this setting and manually paste a video link in to the URL field, but we preferred the time-saving clipboard monitoring step. VDownloader also lets you select the format you want to save video files in, another nice touch. Options include AVI, MP3, iPhone/iPod compatibility, and the original format.

The free program includes two useful extras. The first is the Search capability, which allows you to enter a video name and simultaneously search YouTube, Daily Motion, Google, and Yahoo Video. You can uncheck any of the four sites, but you aren't allowed to add any extras. The second extra is a built-in browser, which doesn't have any of the niceties you'll find in Firefox or Internet Explorer, but does include more than 20 bookmarks to video sites and a quick Download Video button for when you find a file you want to save. We recommend this free, easy-to-use video file downloader for any user.

  "Great product, simple, easy, versatile"

  Pros: Downloads videos to multiple formats. Also a very useful converter and encoder! I was having problems with avi files and trying to get my dvd burner to recognize these files even after downloading multiple codecs. Encoded to mpeg, good to go!

  Summary: Amazing product. Free! Converts better than most products that you would have to pay big buck for.

  Pros: Excellent program to download videos, and also it works to convert any file you have in your computer to the format you want.
  And you are allowing everybody to use it, so you're great person as well.

  Cons: It's not something negative, I just wanted to let you know I would like to download videos from the site http://www.vxv.com/ and there's no program that makes this job. If you can do it I'll create you a monument :D

  Pros: really awesome- not only youtube but also other sites - plus the build-in converter is also very nice

  Cons: every update you need to install the whole program again

  Pros: I have tried some converter softwares, and this vdownloader is the best:
  - free !!!
  - no ads
  - light, easy to use
  - can download video from many sites, esp. Youtube

  Cons: - the display looks so simple, but nevertheless it's very useful
  - ì you're playing the video on web browser, you can't download it by VDownloader at the same time.

  Summary: It's a best match for my iPod. Very good, I recommend everyone to try this product.
