Version: Ubuntu 9.10
Pros: Free, fully and completely functional. Very easy to get a whole bunch of other software for it, free, too. Extremely stable, and much more reliable than my XP. And I'm running MS Office on it (my fav' office program), albeit, via Wine.
Cons: I still need XP for iTunes & iPhone, and for adobe LightRoom. I'm using a Dell so there has been no hardware problems, other than the line-in mic doesn't work, but the internal mic does.
Summary: Totally awesome, and totally excellent. The ONLY time it has ever had a program crash was MS Word (twice). I've had 9.04 as my first linux, and that and this 9.10 both have never crashed. Once you have spent a couple of hours playing with it, it is ... read more >>

I only wish more people get to know this and use it to personally know how good it is.
Hope CNET does a review on this... read more >> -
Version: Ubuntu 9.10
Pros: It's fast and its aesthetically appealing (to my eyes anyways)
Cons: Can't run quite a few programs that I love to use. Wireless drivers are faulty, etc.
Summary: The bottom line is that this is still a work in progress and will take some time before it should be readily available for the mass market. It can download many files and programs even without a internet browser and is much faster than what you can ... read more >>
