  It worked for one week.

  Cons

  It stoped working after downloading the free version. I bought the full app for U$30 to try and fix it and still wont work. Been writing emails to support for two weeks and no answer. Can´t access my files on my HD. DONT DOWNLOAD THIS SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  I've tried similar software which "claimed" to be the best, but USB Secure is perhaps the best one out of the lot. If you don't have a lot of money to spare on an encrypted USB drive, I suggest you buy this software. I was a little confused as to how to go through the setup process -but Michelle in customer support was very helpful, and she emailed me to-the-point instructions. This company truly cares about it customers. Wish other companies like these existed!

  I was looking for a way in which I could lock all my folders on my external drive, so I began searching for USB security software. USB secure was the first result that popped through. In the past, I had tried experimenting with different software but there were not as good as this one. This is the most professional one I have tried.

  If needed I can proof it with e-mails back and fort and screenshots too. Just use Truecrypt it is somewhat faster then Veracrypt and yes, you have to make containers but it works. I used Truecrypt for many years and never had a problem with it except it is a pain to always create containers. Well, I guess I should have stayed with it on this stick too. Truecrypt is not developed anymore but Veracrypt is and it is somewhat slower at the start up, otherwise so far no problems either. The PNY was a new stick, put data on it and then used USB secure, it never had any other encryption software on it.

  Summary

  I installed the trial version latest 2.03 on a USB stick PNY 128GB. After install and locking the stick, I wanted to unlock and it will not unlock anymore. Worse after trying a view times I had only 1 trial left of 3 and after trying to see what is on the stick from Lock/Unlock window it came back "trial expired you have to buy the full version". Contacted customer support took 2 days for reply and they want to access my computer. For what? the program is on the stick not the computer. Gave them screen shoots they still insist on checking my computer. After additional 3 days back and fort, every day 1 message, still insisting to access my computer, well, I am out. Don't even get a trial version from this guys, it's a bad business and your stick will be locked for good for unknown reasons. Truecrypt or now Veracrypt works and it is free. I just taught they have a better mousetrap, I guess the mouse is trapped. I formatted the stick and it works perfectly fine minus what was on it.

  Even though I prefer not to pay for software, in this case I had no choice. My girlfriend had been going through my external hard-drive and I felt I had no means of preventing her from doing so. After doing research for hours on end I found this nifty little software. Even though I wish it was free, I decided to purchase it because I really needed it. So far, I don't regret my decision to buy it, it does what I need it to do and that is all that matters at this point.

  About USB Secure (version 2.03) the manufacturer claims the following: - "Fool proof without backdoors" - "Multiple layers of security prevent criminals from accessing your receptive files and folders" - "Patent pending protection methods ensures your data will remain secure under all circumstances" - "New USB Secure update promises better protection from more sophisticated attacks" Well, I can assure you that those are merely hollow phrases, because ANYONE - without being a specialist or sophisticated - can get access to those secured data, without using whatever decrypting tool, just by means of any data compression/extraction program (e.g. 7zip or WinRar): - Open Windows Explorer and unhide hidden files and folders - Select the USB flashdrive which has been 'secured' with USB Secure - Right-click on the hidden folder Thumbs.ms and add it to an archive with the data compression software - Save the archive (Thumbs.ms.rar or Thumbs.ms.zip) onto a different drive (e.g. your hard disk) - Open the archive with the data compression software - Double-click on the folder Thumbs.ms - Double-click on the folder that starts with COM1 - Double-click on the folder that has an unreadable, gibberish name - Voila, you will see the 'secured' files/folders and are able to extract (and open/read) them anywhere you like... That makes this product a worthless piece of junk.
