Last year's TrackMania combined the physics of an arcade racer with the problem solving of a puzzle game. The sequel expands on the original with new gameplay modes, better graphics, and faster cars. The demo for TrackMania Sunrise isn't as generous as the original game's four demos, but arcade-racing fans will not be disappointed.
In the demo, you progress through three gameplay modes. In Race mode, you simply drive on an existing track for the fastest time. Win silver medals in both races to access the new Platform mode, in which you must make an untimed series of difficult jumps. Two more silvers in Platform let you try the two Puzzle challenges, the highlight of the demo: Given a starting point and a finish line, you must construct the shortest track you can with a limited set of building blocks. The two puzzles in the demo are extraordinarily easy, though, and the track editor is limited. The other new gameplay mode, Crazy, is unavailable in the demo. We had hoped for harder puzzles, but the three difficulty levels and three or four achievable medals for each challenge kept us occupied for a few hours.
Publisher's description
From Enlight Software :The high-octane, freewheeling insanity of TrackMania returns to the PC, with new sports cars that burn up the highways at a breathtaking 400kph as they tear around gorgeous new environments, including the beautiful Pacific coast. The most insane stunt blocks ever send perilous track building to a whole new level with sweeping bends, winding tunnels, and ramps designed to send you soaring. Two new play modes, Platform and Crazy, mean that even the most experienced TrackManiacs will face a totally fresh racing experience.
This demo features two tracks for single- and multiplayer gameplay, several platform levels, and two track-building challenges.

Version: TrackMania Sunrise demo
"Excellent, very FAST racing game!!!!"
Pros: If you've played the original Trackmania, you know how much fun and addicting it is. TM Sunrise will be lightyears better! The cars are more exotic, the jumps are just as insane, and the track editor has a very short learning curve. The graphics are just gorgeous and the game will scale to well lower end machines. I highly recommend giving this demo a try!
Cons: You will need a video card with at least 32MB of RAM on the card. Anyone with integrated video should consider a modest upgrade to better play the game.
