"Lightweight, fast, easy2use editor 4 many languages"
Version: TotalEdit 5.4.7
Pros
fast, syntax hilghiting for different languages, simple & nice interface, easy 2 use, far better than other editors like notepad++, lopedit etc. my fave is codelobster but its slow for some reason. i use totaledit for js, & dsv for php.
Cons
couldnt find external browser preview yet, may not exist. also spent half an hour disabling coding background colors cos its making hard to see the code.
Summary
best js, html editor so far.

"And the hits just keep rolling in..."
Version: TotalEdit 5.4.6
Pros
Intelligent design, created to ease the burdens of the weary coder.
Cons
It is good.
Summary
While I'm sure that there is great intricacy to the underlying program, the simplicity of the user-interface makes it shine like the sun.

"Excellent editor, works well and efficiently."
Version: TotalEdit 5.4.6
Pros
Color coded so that you can tell where you are, also if an HTML element requires a close it will add that (ex: <p></p>) you type in your paragraph between the two open and close statements. Makes it easy to type your document.
Cons
One problem I have found is that if I accidentally type <P></P> then realize that I did make that mistake and go back to correct the first P, it will put a new one in. <p></p></P> instead of removing the offending opposite.
Summary
Other than the above minor irritation, I really do like this product. Unlike notepad++ which always gave me 2 or 3 errors when I would run it on my XP machine, this program runs quite well and is not a machine hog like some of the other programs out there. It also does not try to add code that is not needed like dreamweaver and front page do.

"Clean, powerful and column edit to boot!"
Version: TotalEdit 4.3
Pros
A clean interface, line numbering (that adjusts for word-wrap), tabbed interface that 'remembers' the last files edited, sliding / hiding navigation windows, visual indication of line-wrapping - and I've just started using it!
Cons
Line to create / replace icons ("spell checker" is a bit large).
Summary
I have used many editors (all freeware). I have a disturbing need to often perform column editing. Up until now, UltraEdit was the champ - but it isn't free. TextEdit can so simple column editing, but I needed something better. I just put TotalEdit through its paces, and it is lookin' fine indeed. It has just become my default text editor. Kudos to the author (what else do you have?!).
