Tofu is an novel application which addresses the problem that many people don't like reading text on the screen. It arranges text in columns, which allows fast text reading. Furthermore, it completely avoids vertical scrolling. You scroll from column to column horizontally, which makes the text feel more stable and easier to keep track of.

Thanks!

P.S. The only thing I would like to see added is ability to bookmark positions in text.
I love this, and if it had...

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This makes reading on the computer so much easier. I read the readme file about why this is so, and didn't really think much of it until I started using Tofu. It's true the narrower columns and the visual stability from scrolling horizontally is way more pleasant/normal.
If this app had page turning like Zinio Reader, it would be over the top. In no way am I complaining. Tofu is freeware. Personally, I think there is absolutely no grounds for griping against freeware apps, except when there is fasle advertaising that results in computer problems.
For the developer, the "page down" and "down arrow" scroll equally as much as the "right arrow".
I'm using a G5 with OS 10.3.9

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If only I could print (even if it defaults back to the original layout of the document, without columns -- I don't care!).
Otherwise, this has become my default reader for the many "Read me" files and other dross that I have to plough through on a day-to-day basis. It makes things sooooo much easier to read.
this is great!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
this is wonderful for readability, as it maximizes the aspect ratios of standard computer resolutions. smooth scrolling to the columns is very, very nice. the perfect thing for reading long, dry, military reports converted to text by Italian bloggers.

But please, please don't let this app open an empty window on every launch or icon-click (at least make it configurable)!
Very sweet indeed

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is wonderful! It should be a part of the system itself. This addresses one of the long-standing problems I've had with reading anything lengthy on the computer screen. It also preserved the hyperlinks from the NY Times article I tested and that is great. Any improvement would be icing on the cake.

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The ability to display unicode text is wonderful, but text wraps around the original margins when viewing rtf documents. No big deal, I can change my margins, but it would be nice for the app to change them itself. Changing the column view leaves "ghost text" at times.
Also, it would be nice if the app supports printing.
For a 1.0 product, still 5 stars overall!
