Ran into a few minor problems when trying to print. This is one of the few software programs I have used over the years where a got a response from the developer within less then 1 hour! All I can say is it is NICE to get this kind of customer service!

"A few bugs, but OmniOutliner might be overpriced"

I my case, OmniOutliner came bundled with my new iMac (Intel 17" late 2006). I was even able to upgrade it from v3.5 to v3.6.1. I suspect an upgrade to version 4 will cost the full price (or an upgrade price). Either way, To-Do Stickies will be cheaper.

I prefer the interface of OmniOutliner, and it definitely has more features. It can even import exported notes from To-Do Stickies, albeit with a few bugs in the formatting (something about the data structure/formatting I suspect).

Personally, I'd like to see a little more options in terms of appearance. Although you can change the on-screen font size, you can change the font face, except for printing. Also, having all the collapse/expand triangles flush with the left-hand side can be confusing - I sometimes have a hard-time visually parsing what item is under which other item. But that's just me. Other niceties would include things like having internet addresses automatically turn into links (or not as you choose), row colours, etc. All the stuff "under-the-hood" works well, but a little more polish could enhance useability.

I also found a reproduceable bug in To-Do Stickies 1.3.3: A parent item can be dragged into/under a child of itself that also has children (this should not even be possible). The parent item and ALL children (including all nested levels) disappear. There is no "undo" feature, so unless you just saved the note, you've just lost a bunch of data. Moving items using keyboard shortcuts is much more stable and intuitive, but this bug scares me.

While trying it out in the first hour, I also had an "unhandled out of bounds exception" and crash while dragging items around to rearrange them. Haven't been able to reproduce this one yet, but the above-mentioned bug happens every time.

All told, To-Do Stickies is certainly simpler and more streamlined. OmniOutliner is probably only worth the extra money if you really want all the extra features, or need stability. For most casual users, To-Do Stickies is a better bargain. As usual, try it out for yourself and decide if you like it!
