With this update of the humorous 1995 Amiga classic Timekeepers, Vulcan Software proves that some of those old-school games really were as good as people remember. You command a platoon of Timekeepers, blundering soldiers who march aimlessly back and forth across the 2D landscape. The system for controlling them is the game's most distinctive feature. To give a command, you place a symbol for the instruction on the ground. When a Timekeeper steps on the command, he executes it. By laying out combinations of commands, you can make your Timekeepers change direction, jump obstacles, attack enemies, or operate machinery. It may sound simple, but it's not. Lava streams and dreadful enemies await everywhere. The graphics are a bit raw by modern standards, but that hardly detracts from the game's appeal. The 15 levels of the demo world will keep fans of puzzle and strategy games happily occupied for hours.Publisher's description
From Vulcan Software :To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Vulcan Software has revamped its highly addictive, simplistically complex puzzle game for your PC, and the end result is a preservation of gaming history. Download World One for free and experience this mind-bending, award-winning platoon-management puzzler that spans eight worlds.
Zorg has placed nuclear devices in various times of Earth's history, unless they are disarmed it'll mean the annihilation of our worlds past, present, and future. In direct response, an elite military force (the Timekeepers) has been established to protect the fourth dimension. Organize and manage your platoon through 15 levels (within each world) to disarm the devices. Your platoon wanders aimlessly, but to prevent total chaos you can paste commands onto the terrain, which are obeyed by your platoon as they walk on them. By manipulating the environment you'll be able to guide your platoon, solve puzzles, and avoid traps throughout their mission.
CNET Editor's Note: The first world of Timekeepers is completely free. Worlds 2-8 are available from the Vulcan Web site for purchasing.

"Can't even solve level 1 - HELP ME -"
Pros: Looks good, Lemimngs like.
Cons: No orange teleporter on level 1? Pressed button to open door but nowhere to go. Jumps over pipe to death. Directions unclear and disorganized. Will update rating if I can figure what to do.

Version: Timekeepers World One 3.0
Pros: What can I say about TimeKeepers? It's another Vulcan classic retrieved from the heddy heights of Amiga heaven and reincarnated for a second life on the humble PC. If you missed it first time around then grab your chance now!
Cons: It's just too difficult for me! But I'll keep trying!

-
Version: Timekeepers World One 3.0
Cons: It's kind of confusing. There are no "hints"--if you get stuck, oh well. Only made it to the second section of level one.

Version: Timekeepers World One 3.0
Pros: This is the only game I have ever played which has occupied me for a whole day, away from the computer, just thinking of how to solve the puzzle. Lots of levels, great retro graphics. Highly recommended!
Cons: Can't be paused within a level, no way to turn music off.
