Your Con is wrong. There's always a way to make thief run, even on windows 7! I can run the full games on windows 7, so I don't see why the demo won't. Of course, you have to be willing to do some technical stuff in order to make it run, but it should run. You didn't explain what your specific problem was, but I just tried the demo on my windows 7 x64 system, and the only issue i had is the dual-core crash... The quick easy fix is to run task manager (alt tab out of the game) find thief.exe right click it and Set Affinity>CPU 0 (uncheck CPU1) This will stop the game from freezing while playing.
The sneaking around is cool the story lines are good and the levels are quite diferent. A really exceptional game.
possibly graphics, but they werent that bad.
everything except of graphics - lurking hidden in shadows and stuff.
It is positively marvelous what everlasting fun you can have in this game. I played the demo from every angle possible, from creeping around and getting none of the guard's attention to blazing through the map and winning in under 2 minutes. In one instance, I experimented with the running speed of the guards. After sprinting through the entire main level, I turned around and saw at least 10 guards on my tail. I decided to lead them to the pool room. Here I ran circles around the pool, making sure the guards were always on the opposite side. After doing this enough times, all of the guards fell into the pool and drowned. This made the rest of the game quite easy, I'd say.
As someone else said, there is a lack of variation of resources. Other than that...I don't have much to say against the game.
If you run on XP the instalation might tell you there is some NT problem. Right click on the package and click properties, click compatability, 98/ME and run 640x480 scrre resolution, apply and off you go. play fair, die well!!!
great game, but be warned, do not visit communities. they are filled with arrogant amateur mission makers whose vanity far surpasses skill.
Thief: The Dark Project is one of the greatest games ever! It may take you years to beat it, but once you do, you'll go through and play it again! The level designs are just great, and they are huge.
This game is hard to quit from. The people responsible for the making of this game sure have a great taste for fun. The only change I would make to this demo would be to make more resources available... i.e. fire arrows, gas arrows, mines, etc... By doing this, more people interested in the game would get a better feel for different objects used in the full version. There are a couple fun little bugs, also. One that happens frequently is that guards talk, even after they are dead and lying on the ground. One other is that some guards ignore distractions such as noise maker arrows, or broadheads when they hit a hard surface near them. Other than these minor distractions, I think this demo is just fine.
You feel the game ,You drink the game,YOU EAT THE GAME.
