If you're a weather nerd, and in particular if you're fascinated by hurricanes, you likely love looking at storm photos. If that's the case, you should check out The Weather Channel Screensaver. This program will adorn your desktop with a multitude of hurricane-related images as well as your local weather conditions.
The program attempts to install a toolbar and a couple of spammy-looking browser add-ons when you install it, so be careful during the installation process if those are things you don't want. Once the screensaver is installed, there are quite a few options for customizing its behavior. You can first enter your location if you want the screensaver to display local weather. The program comes with 66 high-quality hurricane images, including both satellite images and photos taken on the ground. Captions are displayed beneath each image so that you know what you're looking at. You can select your favorite images and view only those, and we liked it that the screensaver lets you select how frequently the image changes in increments ranging from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. You can also download additional image packs that center on other themes if you want a break from hurricanes. Overall, we thought that The Weather Channel Screensaver was a nice addition to our desktop, and anyone who enjoys weather imagery should get a kick out of it.
