Tea Timer

Publisher's Description

From ericeubank.com:

Tea Timer is a notification tray application that acts as a virtual egg timer/tea timer. You can use it to alert you when your tea is steeped, your coffee is brewed, the pizza in the oven is done. You can be alerted when a timer pops with any combination of custom visual and audible alerts as well as by launching a program of your choosing. With six presets, you can quickly start commonly used timers just by right-clicking the notification icon. Timers can also be set to repeat making them useful for scheduling redundant tasks.

Version 1.5.3 fixes bugs, adds functionality such as the ability to have timers execute programs, and the ability to customize alerts on a per timer basis.

    "Almost destroyed my computer!"

    December 9, 2010  |   By claramj

    Version: Tea Timer 1.5.3

    Pros

    non,NON, Non!000000!

    Cons

too many to say, but thing must be said it caused my computer to shut down and slowed it down to snails pace, my PC took forever to start, and got error for it Tea timer popping up all the time freezing everything to where I had to reboot, stay away!

    Summary

well see the above for most of it, but to cont with it, I got mine with Spybot Search and destroy which was okay itself but the Tea Timer is what was the problem, and the only way I could get rid of Tea Timer was to get rid of Spybot too, but sense I have other programs that work as good as it I its worth loosing it to get my PC working again, what ever you do don't put it in by itself or Spybot ether because it is hard to get rid of, and its not worth all the trouble anyway, I have some family member who are really good with computer and they say they would never even bother with Spybot and Tea Timer is one of the reason why, stay away from it, check up on it on the net before you mess your PC up, I had programs crash on me because it, I have had it slow the computer down, shut it off while I was online, playing a game, or even when it was on but I wasn't doing anything and it just had the desktop wallpaper on it,lol, it didn't seem to matter, oh and I have 3 GB memory cards and a duel processor and the PC is only 3 years old with allot of new parts added so it should be fast and was until Tea Timer and Spybot, so stay away from both, trust me its not worth it just because its free.

    "memory hog & SLOW!"

    February 18, 2010  |   By Justplainjoe

    Version: Tea Timer 1.5.3

    Pros

it may do what it claims, I can't tell.

    Cons

I have one machine with it on out of three, and I don't notice any difference - except that machine is s-l-o-w because of it.

    Summary

Takes forever to boot up, and hogs 81 megs of memory.
Once installed, you have to uninstall SpyBot to get rid of it - a worthwhile 'sacrifice'.
    Forget this one.

"Easy to use timer. Very convenient!"

    February 17, 2009  |   By andrewbaggins

    Version: Tea Timer 1.5.3

    Pros

Easy to click and set days, hours, minutes, or seconds for countdown timer. Visual and/or audible alert when timer finishes its countdown.

    Cons

    None to speak of

    Summary

Great little timer for most anything - remind yourself the tea is brewed, or to put clothes in dryer, or time to pick up kids from school, whatever! You can set minutes, or hours, or seconds, or even days. Can create your own pre-sets and name them. Requires Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 in order to function. This is a separate (free) download here at Download.com or from Msft. website. You may already have it. Check in Start/ControlPanel/Add_Remove_Programs list to see if it's listed.

    Updated on Feb 17, 2009

Have used TeaTimer for 5 years or more with no problems at all. Uses 24MB of memory but, heck, who doesn't haven't lots of memory these days in their computer? Also, it looks nice. Cool Timer, on the other hand, is ugly to look at.

    "DON'T download this!!!"

    April 23, 2008  |   By brv724

    Version: Tea Timer 1.5.3

    Cons

Sucks up a lot of memory-and I can't get rid of it. Tried deleting, but it keeps restoring itself. Doesn't show up under Add/remove problems. I only gave it one star because I wasn't allowed to submit zero.

    March 29, 2008  |   By arrie99

    Version: Tea Timer 1.5.3

    Cons

it begins to run at 100% in the task manager and shuts my system down...then I have to go and disable the protection every time I boot the system. It is sucking up my memory.

"Mediocre 3MB application uses 30MB of memory."

    October 11, 2006  |   By sr.matto

    Version: Tea Timer 1.5.3

    Pros

It does what it advertises, it just does it poorly.

    Cons

The download weighs in at 624KB. The install directory is around 3 MB. But when you check the task manager it records the Tea Timer as using 30MB of memory. This is unacceptable for something with such a poor interface is so slow. CoolTimer uses 4MB of memory just as a comparison. There are only 6 presets, this is okay but the interface really could be a lot better.
