Pros

Installs easily. I have this on 3 XP machines. No errors. easy to train. Custom commands, voice search, game playing profiles, all work great. Also bookmark search.

Cons

Definitely recommend performing three training sessions. Makes a big difference in recognition. I'm very happy now.

Summary

I saw some other reviews that slam this software, but they don't make sense as I didn't have any issues and I have tazti for XP on 3 different PC's.... I guess some of their competitors are unhappy with this great software. Ha ha!!

"More of a headache"

Pros

Train is simple. It understands your speech clearly.

Cons

It has to be retrained when opening again. If more than one profile, it gets confused and fails to operate. It stops recoginizing after a while. Have stop and restart program often.

"I play PC Games with tazti speech recognition software!"

Pros

Great experience playing Crysis 2, Team fortress 2 and Half life $ Portal using my voice. I also use tazti while in Thunderbird. And I created a lot of my own speech commands with hyperlinks to my favorite web pages.

Cons

Works fantastic if you actually train it like they tell you too. Especially on My XP PC. If you don't train it before using it on XP you will probably be unhappy. So don't be a slug.... train it and be happy!

Summary

I also use tazti on two machines. Works great on both. Sometimes I don't need speech recognition with everything I'm doing so I'll create a profile with just the speech commands I want. As example I also use Photoshop Elements. And tazti is great for some of those commands. Makes me more efficient and work goes faster. Not to mention it's more fun. Tazti is cheap for what I got. Apparently many of the features are free too use except for a couple that time out after 14 days. One happened to be the game play which is what I use it for most, so after testing it I was happy to pay the $29.99 to keep the two premium features on. Just look at the cost of other speech recognition software out there. If I can use this anyone can, as I'm not the swiftest with a PC. So Overall I give this software 8.5 to 9 out of 10 stars! It's a lot of fun. I wish other software had this few problems. Rock on!

"Best Speech Recognition Software!!"

Pros

I use tazti when I am playing World of Warcraft (Wow) and Call of Duty. For Call of Duty I have it programmed for the keyboard commands I never reach before someone kills me. So I speak the words and tazti triggers the keyboard commands.

Cons

Only Works in English. But I speak excellent english!

Summary

I Highly recommend tazti. it has many other cool features that I do not even mention. So I say give it a try and see if it works for you. I also like their forum and tutorial videos.

Based on reviews I read, it is good for web browsing.

Cons

This application will not meet my needs as a transcriptionist.

Summary

I am unable to give a rating for Tazti. After I read all of the available reviews, I determined that this application is not the one for me. It appears to be an effective VR application for web browing, but would not suite my needs as a transcriptionist.

Pros

- Tazti can be customized to understand new voice commands. The power of this should not be underestimated.
- Tazti understands my voice commands fairly well.

Cons

- Tazti comes off as a bit of a toy.
- Many of the voice commands Tazti provides are not that useful.
- Short commands like the built-in 'click' command are often misunderstood or bedeviled by false positives.

Summary

I started looking at voice recognition software so that I could use my voice to make the computer do things that the mouse would normally do. I suffer a bit from carpal tunnel and am bothered most by mouse clicking.

My first impression of Tazti was that it was a toy demo program for voice recognition that shamelessly plugged certain websites, by providing a set of pre-programmed voice commands that take you to those websites. And that's what it is, basically. It has a few commands that work on the Windows operating system, like "start menu", "go control panel", "right click", and so on, but its primary emphasis is on browser commands. It has a potentially very useful feature that let's you voice a Google search string, but the recognition software doesn't figure out what words you are saying often enough to make me want to use it.

Tazti's saving grace is that it let's you make your own voice commands. You do this by giving it a phrase to understand and an action to perform when it hears it. The action can be to start some program or open some document. For example, you can have it open AIM after hearing the phrase, "go instant messaging", or have it open your homework paper in Word by mapping the phrase "open bio paper" to a path to your .doc file on your hard disk.

You can have it do more complex actions if you use it in conjunction with the open source software AutoHotKey. This is where it gets exciting. Typically, you use AutoHotKey (AHK) to define a key stroke to do some action that is defined in a .ahk script. For example, the action might be to open your browser and change the proxy settings. The AHK script can open your browser, or if it's already open it can activate it if its minimized or if it is under some other program's window. Then it can direct the mouse to certain coordinates in the active window (say, your browser), click on menus (say, the Tools menu) and on buttons and type in text fields, etc. What you can do then, is instead of mapping a keystroke to an AHK script, you can specify an AHK script as an action of a Tazti command.

For example, I have a voice command to switch the sound output between USB headphones and desktop speakers. I say "switch sound", and an AHK script runs that magically directs the mouse to open the Sound and Audio Devices program from the Control Panel, click the Audio tab, and pick an entry from the Default Devices menu. Then it closes everything and plays a chime to confirm where the sound is now going.

Tazti does a pretty good job of recognizing my voice commands. At the beginning you go through some training exercises where you read text aloud through your microphone to develop a voice profile. Once that is done, you are ready to use Tazti.

There is a temptation is to use short, snappy words as commands, but the recognition software handles short phrases better. When you start to build up a larger repertoire of commands, it gets harder for Tazti to disambiguate between them, so sometimes you have to change the phrasing around to make it understand you.

You don't need an expensive microphone to get this to work. I've used a number of headset/microphone combinations ranging in price from $30-$50 and they all work about the same. The most important consideration is how handy the on/off switch is on the mic, because when the room suddenly gets noisy (the phone rings, people walk in and start talking to you), you need to turn the mic off so that Tazti doesn't misconstrue this noise as commands (which it will!). I don't like to wear headsets for long periods. I've found that you can lay the headset down on the table near the keyboard and it will still pick up my voice fairly well.
