CNET Editors' review
This free news reader is just clunky enough to throw a monkey wrench in the works for novices. Experienced users may have no problems, but we still have a few quibbles with this app.
Tamava Reader opens in what essentially looks like a tabbed browser window. Before first launch, we were prompted to choose a news server from a preloaded list. Some are free, but some require registration and payment, which may intimidate a first-time user. In our tests, we chose Other and entered our ISP's news server--a selection that may not be intuitive for many novices, especially because it isn't clearly listed as an option by Tamava.
Tamava includes preloaded options for Top Groups categorized by video, audio, and so forth. Parents should be alert that a variety of erotica groups are also preloaded, so this is an app not appropriate for children or impressionable users. Further, most of the groups seem to have a French orientation, so non-French-speaking users may want to steer clear of the preloaded lists.
More than once we tried to open headers, only to be told the app couldn't do so because it was still updating the newsgroup--but the app offered no visual cues that downloading was in progress. A progression bar, or a pop-up notice that updating was complete, would be a nice addition to this app.
Tamava Reader may appeal to some users, but it isn't high on our list of recommendations.
Publisher's Description
From Tamava:
Better user experience - clear and modern user interface, no useless fancy features. Easy configuration--we tried to simplify the configuration as much as possible, with only the most usefull parameters. Image Thumbnails and SlideShow - very easy to see downloaded images, the thumbnails are updated automatically for each new downloaded image and the slideshow allows to see images one by one. NZB and ZIP file support--you can search binaries files via NZB indexers web sites using the integrated web browser. These nzb files will feed Tamara reader. Wizards and Top newsgroups--Wizards are used to simplify the configuration, and TOP newsgroups helps to choose the best available binary newsgroup.

"Doesn't seem to work anymore."
Version: Tamava Reader 1.2
Pros
Interface looks good.
Cons
Doesn't work. Apparently the site Tamava.com is down as well. Don't know if this is a temporary thing or not, but right now, the application does nothing but look good.

"Excellent newsreader and totally FREE too"
Version: Tamava Reader 1.2
Pros
I discovered about this few days back and tried it out!
it turned out to be the best newsreader iv ever used. It has built in search browser and has search engines built into it to find what you need easily and get it. Many tabs to see what exactly is going on..gives you info like "transfer rate, current file that is being downloaded and also failed downloads"
the best feature is it highlights the row with yellow if a file is incomplete so you can safely avoid downloading the file or the archive.
The following features stand out of this news reader:
nzb support
Auto repair
Auto extract
Ease of use
Speed
Reliability
Effeciency
I encourage everyone to give it a try...you wont be disappointed.

"A well thought-out program"
Version: Tamava Reader 1.2
Pros
This program is very easy to use, there are lots of neat features. I've tried several of these newsreaders and Tamava is the best I've run across. It's worth downloading just to check-out the features! Tamava is actual freeware, no nags, no spyware, no bugs, or limitations. And NO I don't work for the company.
Cons
Well it's a bit big, takes up some disk space. As with any program there's room for feature development. Can't think of anything really wrong with the program.
