SuperTuxKart is a 3d kart racing game. You can play with up to four friends on one PC racing against each other, or beat the computer. Race under water or in space, watching the stars passing by. You can do a single race against other karts, compete in one of several Grand Prix, try to beat the high score in time trials on your own, and play battle mode against your friends.
-Tons of levels
-4 player split screen multiplayer
-Fun Controls (I played with an xbox360 controller)
-Free
-Appropriate for kids
-Fun and unique powerups
-Good music
-Completely volunteer made! It's really cool seeing so many people work together just because they love it.
-Open source and still being improved. The game will only get better.
-Story mode
-Unlockable characters and levels
Cons
-A couple times the menus disappeared in about a 6 hour playthrough. I just restarted the program and it fixed it.
-Some controllers make controlling karts difficult (if you're computer is windows I highly recommend the xbox360 controller)
Summary
STK will be familiar with anyone whose ever played a kart racing game like Mario Kart or LittleBigPlanet Karting. I played multiplayer with my girlfriend and it worked great. I am going through and unlocking all the levels right now. I will post a more thorough review when I'm done.
Fun while it works...

Pros
Nice, fast, free, '3-D' game.
Imaginative obstacles and power-ups.
Some of the music is very involving.
Cons
NEEDS a joystick/joypad to get any real use out of it.
Sometimes the duck in the 3-wheeler is almost invisible. And the drivers' 'thumbnails' don't usually produce a full-size image. Sometimes some icons aren't visible.
When I 'Quit' the game, I get an error message, telling me it has 'encountered a problem and needs to close'.
Summary
I've tried this on an old, half-gig laptop, running XP Home AND a two-and-a-half-gig Dell Optiplex GX280 running XP Pro SP3, but the SAME errors keep occurring (admittedly, if I've run Advanced System Care, the problem with the duck disappears temporarily on the desktop).
Obviously, the 'duck' etc. issues suggest an underpowered graphics card, but to have had THE SAME issues on TWO DIFFERENT machines tends to hint at something more fubdamental within the program.
This may or may not have any bearing, but (if I'm reading the error reports right, the program seems to think my Dell is running Windows NT).
Just OK But Not Great

Pros
Graphics are good.
Cons
Hard to maneuver the cart with arrow keys.
Summary
I downloaded this game for my 6 year old grandson for when he came to visit. This game did not hold his interest for very long--maybe because of his young age, but I believe it was because of how hard it was to maneuver the carts around. Maybe you are suppose to have a joy stick to play this game because it was very awkward using the arrow keys. I think it I had a joy stick and this game worked with it, that my grandson and everyone else would have really enjoyed this game.
I recommend it for everybody.

Pros
Great and imaginative obstacles, weapons and carts.
Cons
Does not play full-screen for me, but it is Ok, since the window is large enough.
Summary
Has average graphics, but it is really fun. Reminds me of some cart races on iPhone (not very much alike, but alll the same, programming quality is super....)
Great not just for the kids!
