"I felt I was baited into buying this product."
Version: StatPlus 2008 Professional 5.7.8
Pros
I was looking for a stats package to do social science analysis. StatPlus looked good because of its integration with MS Excel for Mac and because it advertised analyses which most GNU applications don't yet offer.
Cons
I wanted to do a one-way ANOVA analysis using Tukey's HSD post-hoc test. The one way analysis was free, but I had to pay to get the post-hoc tests. The application completely MISCALCULATED the Tukey test.
Summary
I checked its results against an online application, provided through Vasser College. The same data, the same test, completely different results. This is not an overly difficult or unusual analysis. I sent off a request StatsPlus for help to their support desk, but the voice service wasn't available and my email weren't replied to. I wouldn't reccomend paying for the extra features. I quickly found one error in its calculations. I imagine I could easily find another.
