From Mathematically Beautiful Screen Savers :Special Effects uses pixel animation to create the following 3D displays in real time: fireworks, star fields, B-spline warp, B-spline sparklers, and gravity wells. Many user preferences can be specified to customize the results, such as the number of fireworks shells, configuration of bursts, number of sparks per shell, persistence of sparks, gravity, atmospheric damping, combination of colors, and the viewing focal length. Preferences can be saved as templates for easy restoration and sharing among Special Effects users. Online help is available for all fields on the Preferences dialogue. This application can also be used as your Windows screensaver, and includes a Galaxy Effects feature, which provides the ability to create impressive galaxies with dozens of properties. Sound files can now be associated with the fireworks burst configurations. Version 3.2 introduces password protection, displays effects to a preview window, and improves default effect properties. Easier Registration via button on Main Window. Run with Effects in Background per Advanced Settings.

Cons: it will go to a screen and then say this is a shareware product go to the registration window to remove this message

"Just not very exciting or fancy..."
Pros: I liked the way the fireworks shoot up from the ground and burst open just like real fireworks
Cons: But the colors weren't that different or fancy. They were all one solid color. Either all blue or all white... no mixed colors. Also the screensaver ran a little slow for real fireworks.

"compressed files are corrupt"
Summary: upon downloading this product i tried to unzip the compressed files when my computer said the folder is corrupt and has no files to extract.
