This free program tosses your hat into the eBay's bidders' ring just in the knick of time, but its accuracy in reporting the results is questionable.
Sign in to SnipeStation IE eBay Auction Bidder Sniper Toolbar using your eBay user ID and password. The bar's options quickly switch to buttons for bidding and an entry time. Plus you get your very own SnipeStation account at the home page. As you click on an item, the bar automatically displays the item number, and you can enter your maximum bid amount and when you want your bid to go through. We like that you can slide bids in within seconds of their end time, maximizing your chances to win.
SnipeStation was easy to use, and we successfully won our auction during tests. Strangely, the toolbar listed our test snipe as unsuccessful and we kept getting odd runtime errors from the program while surfing. Its incorrect reporting and error messages are dampers, but most eBay fans will be happy just knowing this toolbar really can help you win.

Pros: I have used Hammersnipe for over three years now but the free version only allows three snipes a week and 10 sec before auction end sniping.
Snipestation is great and hands down beats Hammersnipe.You can set it for 3 second snipes,unlimited snipes a week and you can access it thru Internet Explorer OR Firefox.
It does install their own tool bar which I don't like and it is best just to go to SnipeStations web site and do your bidding there. This app uses their own servers so you don't have to leave your PC on all night to win and item at 3am in the morning.
Overall I really like it and have had a 95% success rate buying/sniping items on eBay.
Cons: Programs servers are based overseas and some reviewers has noticed problems with bidding and or time delays with bidding. I however have had no such probs.

Pros: No outage so far.
Cons: I have used this service for several weeks. I set the default snipe at 3 seconds before the auction ends. But my bid is placed 20 seconds before! That is not a snipe! My advice is: buy Auction Sentry @ USD 14.95. See the good reviews on Download.com Extremely reliable and snipes just seconds before ending. If your PC is not running you might consider Snip.pl.

Cons: Horrible, doesn't load correctly into your system - takes up otherwise usable memory space - etc - etc - etc. Glad this one was free, you get what you pay for!!!

"Best sniper I've found yet and it's FREE!"
Pros: I've been using this sniper for the last 7 months and it has worked great about 99% of the time.
There have been a few 'glitches' but I have seen continual improvement throughout the time I've been using it, it is fairly new and recently moved from the beta phase.
Also there is a forum area that, unlike most sites, the operators monitor on a consistent basis, it even has a direct link to them. I have contacted them on a few occasions and the customer support is outstanding! I have even had them contact me when a possible problem came up that could have affected my bid, not many site operators are that proactive.
Also, it has adjustable bid lead times, which can be important.
I would estimate that I have won around 250 auctions using this sniper.
As for the toolbar, (finally) it is VERY easy to use and I have not had any problems with it.
I would highly recommend it.
Just please do not use it to bid against me. LOL
Cons: Does not support Firefox, although that is apparently being developed.
As noted, there have been a few problems in the past, if it is VERY, VERY, VERY important that you win a particular auction it is best to set a fairly long lead time and to personally monitor the auction. But for 'everyday' use it works fine.

"Does not work on MCE 05 or Vista!! Beware!!!"
Pros: Couldn't imagine, it don't work!!
Cons: Written in an antique version of visual basic and the install wants to go through and replace all the vb dll's with some really out dated versions, if you refuse to let it install these then it will not run, if you do install them then you just lost Windows, Very poor programing, very old, very outdated! Hard to believe in this day and age, and the operating systems in use, along with those coming this is the best that this author can do, It might be great for the ebay only crowd, but I am not giving up MCE 05 or Vista to save 10 cents on an auction!
