"Pity it doesn't work. Really a pity. Well... perhaps."

 |  Version: Smart Email Verifier 3.51

A slick tutorial system. (Pity it didn't help me!)

It does not connect to my internet.

It really is a matter of, "Why bother?"

I have just tested and reviewed a dozen other products. The other products managed to connect to the internet on my PC automatically.

This product said it could not connect to the internet, and invited me to set DNS values.

They call their product "Smart". I do not call myself "smart". So who should know about DNS and the like? Perhaps they would like to ponder the matter.

Make their product user-friendly? Did they think, "Why bother?"

Put more effort into trying to make their product work? I thought, "Why bother?"

I tested the product after DeskShare's technical support helped me with the DNS problem.

The import system has a little idiosyncrasy. Importing a simple text file without headers does not work, or is too difficult to understand.

I used a test file with 27 valid and 33 invalid emails.

It reported 6 invalid (incorrectly), 4 valid (2 wrongly), and 50 unknown.

It offered an option to try forcing verification of the unknown emails. It also warned me that this option might lead to my ISP blacklisting me, so I did not try it!

This software explained why neither it nor any of its competitors work properly. They cannot work because ISP's have disabled the verify() function as an anti-spammer measure.

So the software is only a help for syntax and domain name validation.

Within these limitations it seems the best verifier going.

Certainly DeskShare know how to write software, and I am going to test the rest of their range.

Oooops! On my last update to the review, I said the software reported 6 invalid emails incorrectly. I should have said CORRECTLY. Apologies to DeskShare!

On a new test file of 50 records checking for syntax and domain name validity, the software scored 100% and was very fast too.
