"Nice but way too Expensive!!!"
Version: SlickEdit 2012 16.0
Pros
Good tagging.
Good controls.
Good configuration.
Good features.Cons
Way way way too expensive.
Poor support.
Poor customer care.Summary
I had a personal license for Linux that I used for work. When my Linux machine died I wanted to move to Mac. All I wanted was to convert my Linux license to a Mac license. NOT possible. They wanted to charge me an extra $150 just to convert. I even have the maintenance program which itself costs money. In fact, if I switched over to Mac, for my 1 license, they were going to charge me for a totally new maintenance fee!
I also had an issue once where a certain html tag wasn't recognized by SlickEdit. Tried to get support...nothing was done.
I won't pay these crooks again. -
"Simple or as complex as you will ever need"
Version: SlickEdit 2012 12.0.3
Pros
I have used this as a student and as a professional. It is extremely useful tool. I cringed at previous published reviews that call this a complex piece of software. It is fully customizable. Covers all languages I use (nothing obscure). The menu driven systems are full of features. I use many of them but certainly not all of them. Worth every penny of the cost. The real value is realized in not using a new proprietary editor. Works extremely well with GNU compilers and tag files are updated very easily.
Was shocked to see that I was actually supported. Wiki page on editor comparisons will shed light on what else might work but I wouldn't switch at this point
Cons
Version 12 release users should install 12.03 patch immediately. I found a few flaky functioning disappeared afterwards.

"SlickEdit 11 is simply the most complete system in the industry."
Version: SlickEdit 2012 11
Pros
I am very impressed with SE-11 system for a number of reasons, especially after using the competition's product in the past. SlickEdit 11 provides the most efficient, comprehensive, customizable, and user-friendly system on the market. I encourage everyone to check out their website, and look over the "Cool Features" section in the product description. Highly recommended!

"v11 continues to impress!"
Version: SlickEdit 2012 11
Pros
I've been a user since SEv8. It's a great IDE. Even though they've added tons of features over the years, they continue to put a premium on performance. Features like the code templates let me focus on the "real" problems. I like the new regEx evaluator. DiffZilla gets a workout all the time. I code faster with slickedit.

"best editor"
Version: SlickEdit 2012 11
Pros
In my opinion this is the best editor in the world. Must have! The best autocompletion I saw!
Cons
For slickedit team: please add Lisp\Schecme support. I have found minimal flaws with javascript editing.

"FAST, Functional, Useful, Feature Rich"
Version: SlickEdit 2012 10.0.2
Pros
I love SlickEdit. I have been using it for years. I originally got it for the brief emulation. Now, I use it at the core of my web development environtment. This is an source code editor, and build environment, not a WYSIWYG editor. Features included are to numerous to list, but a few of my favorites are:
1) super fast load time
2) tagging (support for autocomplete and java docs as you code)
3) built in FTP client
4) simple and intuitive look and feel.
5) truely multi-language multi-platform.
6) does not force u into its concept of an environment or deployment methodology. U set it up the way U want it to work.
Cons
Lagging tools like MyEclipse for support of things like:
1) lack built in struts config file generation.
2) lack of convenience utilities like generation of setters and getters for beans.
3) lack of SQL/Database browser and schema generator.
