This program provides a convenient way to rename batches of files, but lacks a few common renaming abilities. Sensible File Renamer's clean and intuitive interface is its strongest feature. Novices will find it easy to rename large numbers of files conveniently without any complex steps. All you need to do is browse for the folder, highlight the items you want excluded, and define the renaming option. As with the better programs in this category, Sensible File Renamer displays the output before you permanently execute the task. This program comes with 11 useful renaming methods, including trimming text on both sides of the filename, creation and preservation of number series, case conversion, and insertion and deletion of specific characters. This utility works well with pattern matching but doesn't have wildcard search and replace. You also are forced to use a specific method of series number creation. The short single-week trial will frustrate some users, but it doesn't take long to get an idea of how well this utility works. Novice to intermediate users with a few batches of files to rename will find this application friendly, simple, and efficient. Advanced users will like Sensible File Renamer for quickly renaming homogeneous batches of files, but may look elsewhere for wildcard- and template-matching capabilities.
