CNET Editors' review
ScreenFlow is a popular screen-recording and editing tool for creating screencasts, such as presentations, tutorials, and product demos, on your Mac. This app can handle every aspect of pulling together a screencast, from high-quality screen capture (including the ability to grab iSight and DV camera data, and mic and computer audio) to editing and exporting, with built-in YouTube publishing.
Thanks to ScreenFlow's fairly intuitive interface (now with even more time-saving shortcuts and contextual menus), even novice users can assemble a basic screencast. Experienced users, on the other hand, will appreciate the app's more sophisticated touches, such as the ability to freeze frames, adjust clip and transition speed (with 2D and 3D transitions), and apply saturation, brightness, and contrast to clips. Recent updates have also added the useful ability to create standalone Flash files, with the video, html, and player all embedded in the file.
All in all, ScreenFlow is one of the best apps of its kind for the Mac--and as a bonus, it even comes with a Flip4Mac WMV Studio serial number.

"Easy to use, great video enhancement capabilities"
Version: ScreenFlow 3 2.1.10
Pros
The software is very easy to use. Easy to start and easy to stop. The videos are easy to splice, rearrange, zoom in, add captions, starting and ending transitions, etc, etc. Quality of video is great and so is the quality of the voice recording.
Cons
A little pricey. If you are making videos as helpful favors to other people, it may be hard to justify the cost.
Summary
I am not a professional videographer! But in my field I need to create demo videos showing how to use our industry's specialized software. It took me a little bit to figure out how to use the features in Screenflow, but in the end it was worth it! The software is very, very easy to use. Easy to start and easy to stop. The videos are easy to splice, rearrange, zoom in, add captions, starting and ending transitions, etc, etc. I've been thrilled with it and so have my viewers. They've often commented on the quality of my videos and all the credit goes to Screenflow. I do have a hard time justifying the cost. However, the software is a great help to me so I was willing to fork out the money and try not to think about the cost anymore.

"Wonderful application"
Version: ScreenFlow 3 2.1.8
Pros
Nice interface and good french localization.
Good possibility of editing, including image cropping and adding text.
Several export formats.Cons
Nothing to report at this time.
Summary
Easy to use, without even having read the manual yet.
This is a preliminary view that the experience could justify. -
"Great for mini lessons that must be repeated."
Version: ScreenFlow 3 2.1.4
Pros
Amazed at the clarity of my brief presentations.
Cons
The time it took to come out with such an amazing product.
Summary
Easy to use. Friendly. Great results. Will be used in future presentations that
require a brief overview. Thanks for coming out with this product. You have
made presentations a delight. Will try to encourage others to use it on products
they have liked. -
"I really like this software"

"Easy to start, stop, and name a recording."
Version: ScreenFlow 3 2.1.3
Pros
Easy to start, stop, and name a recording. Good quality picture and sound using built in audio and streaming video. (I have not recorded anything containing music, or from any source other than streaming video.)
Cons
I have no idea how to edit anything with ScreenFlow.
Summary
When using the fast forward and fast reverse features, it jumps to the beginning or end of the session. Clicking on the time bar above the sound display works, but occasionally freezes the visual. Also, when using the fast forward and fast reverse features, it jumped to the beginning or end of the session. Clicking on the time bar works, but occasionally freezes the visual. The audio does not appear to be affected when the video freezes.
A users manual would be very helpful.
Also, when I tried to purchase the product, I had to use a free version first. The next day, the free version evaporated. I went back to the home page again, and had to use a free version again, and finally found a link that allowed me to purchase the full version. The link was not easy to find, and was not obvious. (You know, some people, and I am one of them, would just prefer to have the choice of buying the program immediately, or trying a free version first.) Given that choice the first time I visited the site, I would have bought it first, then tried it out.
I don't like being made to jump through so many hoops in order to buy something I want. (This product was referred to me by an online marketer not associated with Apple. That is why I would have purchased it on the first visit.)
Despite the problems I had just trying to give money to the vendor of this product, I do like it and have used it several times. However, I cannot express how much I would like to have access to a users manual. -
"ScreenFlow 2.0.2 Is Very Hard To Use"
Version: ScreenFlow 3 2.0.2
Pros
At first glance, the software interface looks good.
Cons
Editing and saving the video in this software is NOT user friendly.
Summary
First off, the command for stopping the recording (arrow up, 2, command) does NOT stop the recording. Prepare to fill up your hard drive with useless video if you're not careful. You have to quit the program and reopen it, then it will ask you to stop the recording. Simply editing/deleting the end of a video is impossible to figure out! I've spent over an hour and haven't figured it out yet. $99.99??? I wouldn't pay 10 cents for this software.

"Complete waste of time"
Version: ScreenFlow 3 1.5.2
Pros
Could not find any.
Cons
The "No Limitations" trail is watermarked and completely useless.
Summary
Trial is completely useless. If demo output is watermarked then this is a limitation. Please indicate so. I will by purchasing some sort of screencast software. It will not be Telestream's ScreenFlow. Save yourself the time and move on to another product.

"ScreenBlow"
Version: ScreenFlow 3 1.5.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The only mistake the previous commenter made was understating the lousiness of ScreenFlow support. ScreenFlow support, upgrades, etc are all absolutely r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s. I continually get the same error as the previous commenter which goes way beyond the classification of "bug". This so called "error" renders the entire application completely useless! And then to waste what minimal support advice they offer to simply "pass the buck" off on a handful of other applications you might be running is pathetic.
During the advent of ScreenFlow, potential was it's most rousing asset. Since then ScreenFlow hasn't made any compelling advancements at all.
Add it all up and it's easy to see that ScreenFlow is a total bust. Save your time and money and check out worthy alternatives with better support and less arrogance to think that users are going to overhaul their systems just to be able to run ScreenBlow. -
"Impressive Results"
Version: ScreenFlow 3 1.2.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Ever since I switched to Screenflow for my product screencasts, I've been getting compliments on how good the quality is. This, for me, is the premium screencast tool for the Mac. Well worth the money.
