If Windows Notepad worked out at the gym a little, it might look something like Scratchboard, a modest but underpowered idea manager that lets you arrange snippets of information in a hierarchical tree structure. Compared to its competitors, Scratchboard is strictly bare-bones.
We were especially disappointed that it only supports plain text--forget about inserting images or even highlighting important data. Plus, you can only bookmark entire notes. The program's one advanced function is its ability to alphabetize paragraphs. The interface is highly configurable yet a bit cluttered, and projects can only be saved in the proprietary format.
All in all, we can't get too excited about Scratchboard, though researchers, reporters, and students who work solely with text may find it adequate.
