  Their web site says that this plug in does not work with Airport Express. Not sure what this means.

  Summary

  This plug in is recommended for anyone who wants better sound from the songs and movies in their iTunes library than iTunes can give itself. I rarely pay for software. If it's not free I don't use it. But this plug in is one piece of software that I am glad I bought.

• Dysfunctional Version 3.1; Use Version 2

  Pros

  Great control of iTunes audio well beyond any equalizer. Version 3.1 fixed a bug in version 2 that kept switching the program over to movie mode when it should be in music mode.

  Cons

  Version 3.1 disabled functionality. Custom settings cannot be saved. Nor can they be kept between tunes. The presets provided are awful.

  Summary

  If you've got version 2.0.2.255 of SRS iWOW, stick with it and do NOT upgrade. There are a couple bugs in v2, but they're nothing compared to the incredibly annoying loss of functionality in v3. Over the past year, SRS have been asked repeatedly by countless customers to 'finish' version 3 and add back ALL the version 2 functionality. SRS have not responded. Meanwhile, version 2 works fine with Snow Leopard and is far superior to version 3. I'm sorry I tossed SRS any money for version 3. I personally have given up on it, trashed it, and reinstalled version 2 again, providing a return to sanity.

  The sound enhancement was very effective. I'd planned to buy until the trial ran out and the nagware prevents me from accessing iTunes no matter what I've tried. I will not patronize by force.

  The download provides a 14-day free trial. I immediately could hear the difference on every genre of sound I sampled. Yes! That's the full rich sound I was missing. The free trial sold me right away.

  I own a custom built PC w/ quality sound card and 2.1 speakers. With all the setting available w/ my sound card I could not get the rich sound I wanted. Came across this product in PCWorld. .SRS iWOW provides customization or you can let it pick the settings based on genre. Since most of my listening is done through iTunes I wanted the iWOW for iTunes. Works w/ Mac or PC. Looking for fuller, richer sound from your computer? This works. Google for coupons and you can find 20% off that shows in the shopping cart.

  ...version 2<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Version 3 removes my favorite feature from version 2. Autopresets. The ability of iWOW to detect what kind of song you were playing based on genre and adjust to an appropriate preset. This was wonderful to have, if it wasn't alway perfectly accurate. It was accurate enough that I would deal with the rare mistakes. With 3.0 you must manually adjust the preset for each song, and there was no way to permanently assign a preset to a song. This would make up for losing autopresets. The failure of iWOW 3 is that once I deleted it, iWOW 2 refuses to install. I get an error telling me a newer version already exists.

I have now emailed them on via their web site email to ask for help 3 times. My demo is about to run out and no one answers the email. Are there any people at this company? Has anyone had luck contacting them? Since they refuse to answer when I'm ready to spend money on their product, imagine what will happen if I or you have a technical problem.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I got this product as a part of a bundle. I thought it would be interesting. I was hoping it would enhance my MacBook Pro's sound. It did, but it also fouled the reliability of iTunes and had to reinstall and troubleshoot it more than I liked to. I emailed support to help with the troubleshooting and to reset the reg. I did so twice, but I received no reply or acknowledgement. Buy software, but make a strong point to buy software that has good support. Horrible hack of an application and horrible hack of support team. Buyer beware; you will toss your money away on this product.

Not only will they not let you re-install the product after switching to a new computer - they kind of refuse to help if you need anything, e.g. your reg code. Maybe they think you are prepared to purchase the same product once a month or so? No use contacting them because there will be only automated answers telling you that you cannot reach them by e-mail... Maybe there are worse things but I haven't come across them yet.

Beware the activation because I can no longer use my version 1.9 anymore after having to resintall my OS a couple of times. I emailed SRS labs and this is what they said: Hello xxxx, Please respond back with your registration number and Iâ??ll reset the account for you. Kind Regards, Michael Gonzalez MichaelG@srslabs.com ------------ I sent them my regkey weeks ago and they still haven't reset my account. Oh well, I guess I'll find some other plugin to enhance the sound. I'm definitely not upgrading to version 2.0. It's completely ridiculous to ask customers for an upgrade fee so soon.

• Makes MP3s sound great, whatever the speakers

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Computer sound, MP3s in particular, tend to be hollow and whiny, lacking depth and realism. SRS' iWow corrects this in iTunes, making the music experience richer. For me, it means that I can now listen to the music stored on my computer for long periods of time without a headache â?? even a whole day â?? something I could never do before (unless I plugged my computer to a real audio system). iWow was updated for Leopard compatibility less than a week after the official version of the OS was available, and there has been 8 updates in the last year to the software. For me, this is shows excellent support and commitment. The next improvement would be to extend iWow beyond iTunes, to the whole OS experience. I'm tired of tin-can beeps ! ;-)
