Combining GT racing with role-playing elements, SCAR sets an ambitious course for itself, but the demo promises success. Improving nine driver attributes such as Intimidation, Vision, and Handling motivates you to race, and a variety of performance accomplishments create incentive to master the game skills. The graphics are nothing special, but the gameplay and intriguing role-playing elements make up for fewer polygons and a lack of cool lighting effects.
The demo allows access to three gameplay modes: Instant Action, Dynasty, and Time Trial. The first mode features straight-out racing with three cars (Giula TZ2, 156 GTA, and 147 GTA) on three courses. Dynasty lets you play through the first two events of the rookie tour, gaining experience points (XP) for drafting, passing, performing clean laps, and knocking other drivers out. Time Trial lets you race the same courses as Instant Action either without opponents or against online drivers via the included GameSpy Arcade.
All the controls are easily customizable, and you can navigate by mouse, keyboard, or controller. Jazzy background music makes you feel as if you're in a European cafe. The soundtrack veers a bit close to light jazz, but there's some funk in that SCAR trunk.
Publisher's description
From Black Bean Games :SCAR, Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo, is a stunning racing simulation that combines both realistic car physics and vibrant graphics, together with classic role-playing Game elements.
For the first time in a racing game, players must improve their skills as drivers instead of modifying their cars, making the ability to match a set of skills to the different requirements of each competition just as much an important part of winning the race.
This demo for the realistic racing sim offers three car models, along with several tracks and gameplay modes.More popular Racing Games downloads

Version: SCAR - Squadra Corse Alpha Romeo demo
"Half-baked... Wish there was another one like this"
Pros: Alfa-Romeo game->Only one of its kind; very simulator-like in driving characteristics; ok graphics; fantastic simulation of sound and damage done to cars; pretty open demo - will keep you interested for a while if the menus don't drive you crazy
Cons: No graphics options for slower machines; TERRIBLE menus, simply the worst I've ever seen; a little too-simulator like in driving characteristics; speedometer looks like it was drawn by someone working at Cartoon Network, not Car and Driver; graphics/cars could look at least a little better

Version: SCAR - Squadra Corse Alpha Romeo demo
Pros: Lots of options for tweeking game.
Cons: Unless you have a very quick machine don`t bother. Very annoying hissing noises on menus and very slow and jerky when driving. I have a 1.7ghz processor and 64mb Geforce graphics card but still is very slow and there are no options to change any of the graphics in game.
Also did`nt install on my system (win XP pro) for the 1st 10 tries and then it crashed after nearly installing but could still use program somehow.

Version: SCAR - Squadra Corse Alpha Romeo demo
Pros: Typical driving game, realistic controls
Cons: Nothing new about this one, background music on setup screens sounds like something you'd hear in an elevator. Yawn.

Version: SCAR - Squadra Corse Alpha Romeo demo
Pros: Decent graphics but still puts my 6800gt to shame
Cons: Like all the other racing games not worth playing. Controls are different. Use , . to steer and A for gas. Not much fun. My firewall blocks this from connecting to the internet. Theres no multiplayer so I dont know why it should!!
