Reminder Cube offers users an alternative to the traditional calendar system. With a basic display that performs simple functions, users may have an easier time keeping organized.
This freeware has a simple interface that is easy to understand. Users familiar with calendar systems such as Microsoft Outlook will be slightly confused by its layout, but after some experimenting, most will quickly become familiar with Reminder Cube. A monthly calendar sits at the top right and commands for creating new events, new tasks, making a note, and opening Gmail are below. To the right, taking up much of the screen are the list of the pending tasks and pending events. Further to the right is open space which is filled when Gmail or another program is opened.
Creating events and tasks is incredibly simple. Users write a brief description in a box, set the alarm and also select an icon from their selection of a few dozen to go with the event. The alarm sounds and alerts users as it should and on time.
Our only complaint with Reminder Cube is its lack of an address book. If it never offered one we wouldn't be disappointed, but there is a pull down menu labeled Address Book. In our tests, we couldn't get it to open. After several attempts, we searched for details about whether you have to pay for this service, but found nothing. So basically it is a dead spot on an otherwise great program.
We highly recommend Reminder Cube, despite the missing Address Book, for any user who needs calendar functionality at no cost.

Version: ReminderCube 4.5
Pros: more useful to me than windows calendar -the email notifier is good along with the launch. It has places for tasks, events and notes....small but that's all I need
Cons: can't seem to get the date to do mm/d/yr format for 2010...defaults to European date format...can live with it though
Summary: works great especially if you don't need a large calendar with a bunch of extras. Sits on desktop or launch and is very handy. would recommend this to anyone who needs just a small calendar base. Also it's eay to enter tasks/events.
