"Recovers Randomly"
Version: Recover My iPod 1.7.2.833
Pros
Granted, it did recover a portion of my ipod.
Cons
I was typing the cons but ran out of room. See the summary:
Summary
1. Approx 1/3 of the recovered tracks show as "Recovered Track #" without the listing.
2. It did not recover full tracks when it does show a name. This means that songs are cut off and the next track starts playing (not necassarily from the same album). This gives the effect of listening to someone changing a radio station constantally between channels.
3. Track listings are incorrect.
4. Many duplicates with same track names but different durations.
These are the cons after using the ipod after 5mins of the "Recovery" so I am sure there will be more but this give you a pretty good idea that once the ipod has been wiped you will need to reload all music back into Itunes. This has to be the biggest negative concerning the Ipod. -
"It worked. Recovered all tunes after bad iTunes sync."
Version: Recover My iPod 1.7.2.833
Pros
It worked. Recovered 600 songs my son thought were lost.
Cons
I wish it were easier to see the names of the files being recovered.
Summary
My son was in a jam. He got a new laptop, downloaded iTunes, and plugged in his iPod classic. iTunes 'synced' the empty account on the laptop by emptying his iPod as well. (That's why I use WinAmp myself...) I don't know if there are other ways to recover from this situation, but for 40 bucks I was able to recover 600 bucks of music, plus podcasts, movies, tv shows, etc...
