• Fabulous for StartUps & All to Share!! Love ProtoShare!

  Pros

  Stellar costumer service. They were there for me every step of the way when I needed it most since I am not a developer but needed to build a prototype to build a compelling story of my eCommerce startup. Their patience, tenacity and expertise has helped me expose my startup brand with greater ease conceptually to developers, tech companies and investors alike!! I cannot boast about ProtoShare enough it is suitable for developers to average to not so average digital designers like myself. I recommend this software for anyone who needs to build a prototype from scratch and who wants to save a ton of money on developers. They are the best!!

  Cons

  Not that I can think of except I wish the templates were automatically responsive across the various devices from smartphones to tablets. However, I'm sure they are on their way to developing that as well. In the meantime, you are able to resize layouts to match each device easily to show how your site is responsive. No biggie in my eyes!

  Summary

  Clean, simple, superior customer service and customizable. It has amazing tools to work from and above all in this day in age instant customer service is key to meeting tight deadlines and finishing each component of your project with ease. My start up is getting a lot of traction with the online prototype and hard copy layout versions from potential partnerships, investors and more. I could not have gotten this far without ProtoShare or have been able to exemplify a compelling story without their customizable tools, bells and whistles. It is a must have!! They truly are a company that cares about each person's prototype whereas others have glitches or long waiting times to get answers to urgent questions. Hands down ProtoShare is the best!! Thank you ProtoShare!!

• Possibly the best SaaS prototyping tool out there...

  Pros

  - Easy to use for all user types - Fast and responsive interface - Rich tool set to create highly interactive prototypes for usability testing - Version control is life saver - Great collaboration features for remote working in large teams

  Cons

  - No provision as yet for responsive design layouts - Really could do with a new "Timer" component for easier simulation of loading events

  Summary

  We have used Protoshare for the last 3 years, as one of our large clients uses it for all of it's web and mobile prototyping within it's UX team. Recently we had our own need for a robust prototyping tool to work remotely and collaboratively with a number of new high profile client projects. We tested a number of cheaper alternatives to Protoshare, but none of them had the flexibility to create truly interactive pages to compete in the same league. Protoshare has actually changed the way we approach wire-framing for web and mobile projects because of the time we save. We no longer use a basic vanilla "wire" layout style. Because every Protoshare component can be styled via CSS we can style create rich, branded UI components that look and act more like the end result. This gives users a better feel for a prototype during user testing which in turn generates more reliable responses and direction from users for new designs. If you're looking at collaborative prototyping solutions for your web and mobile projects, Protoshare should be top of your list.

• Making Product Management Look Easy

  Pros

  Clickable mock ups work wonders in executive meetings. Save countless hours, re-dos and headaches by laying out features, ux and functionality in ProtoShare first.

  Cons

  None that I found.

  Summary

  ProtoShare was introduced to me by a designer at the start of what could have been a disastrous Saas project. We were architecting a new version of our legal software product, that needed to fulfill the vision of our executive team, wishes of our customers, and fit into existing development architecture. By using ProtoShare as our test bed for design and feature functionality before handing instructions off to our developers we no doubt saved our timeline, and budget. We were able to go through several iterations and changes including sign off from stakeholders before coding even a single line. Without ProtoShare our product might not have made it to market in time, and definitely wouldn't have looked or functioned as well as it did. I would highly recommend using ProtoShare as the first part of your UX, Design and Development efforts.

  Summary

  To call Protoshare a wire framing tool is sort of like calling filet mignon "meat". It's accurate, but hardly captures the real value. You can certainly build wireframes with it, but more importantly, you can rapidly and easily build complex, interactive UX prototypes that can be quickly tested with users, richly commented on by reviewers, and even used as a sales tool with potential clients. Most of the reviews that I've seen around this have been from an agency perspective, and I can totally see the value in that setting. Mine is different. As a software startup we needed to be able to effectively convey a product idea quickly and cheaply, better understand the core needs of our consumer base, get product feedback, and redesign the product - repeatedly. Protoshare let us do all of this (including innumerable iterations, and at least one major pivot) for a fraction of the cost of a single month of developer time. When we did start developing, our product was much further along than a typical alpha. On top of that, the comps were a fantastic augmentation to our agile stories that our dev team (front and back end) used them almost as much as they used our issue tracker. I'd highly recommend this (and have, repeatedly) to other startups, and any tech company that values design, value and iteration.

• The Best Wireframe Tool Available

  Pros

  ProtoShare is the BEST wireframe tool available on the market today. When we started on a very large project a few months ago, I tried nearly EVERY wireframe / mockup tool out there and nothing really comes close to this. Easy to learn and use, and powerful as well. The collaborative nature of this is great as well - post comments, get feedback, update the design and move on. I was able to wireframe a web and mobile version of the project in about 3 days worth of work. Once you get the hang of the interface and how to make the interactivity work (very easy), you'll be flying through this. By presenting fully interactive wireframes, our client was blown away by how complete it looked. The benefit to us? Almost NO layout changes and back and forth about layout and concepts. The presentation aspect alone so impresses customers, they agree and we can move on to real design and development.

  Cons

  The asset libraries are a little limited (no iOS 7 items yet), but it's more than enough for most wireframing needs. There's also a few little bugs in the "run" version of the wireframes which you can use to run your design like a real website. Not everything you build translates 100% correctly. Support was great though (online chat!) and helped me find work arounds as necessary.

  Summary

  I know people shy away from monthly subscription software, but if you are doing web/mobile projects on a regular basis, this is the best software out there to do it. Always up to date, powerful, easy to use and adds features installed software just can't do. It's worth it just to save the time of trying to explain to a customer how a site will look. If that saves you 1 hour a month, you've paid for this already.

• A definite must for our web projects

  Pros

  - ProtoShare helps us increase productivity and profitability when we are working on our website projects. It gives us the opportunity to really think through functionality, vet our content strategy and get approvals before spending too much time on development. - It works well in multiple browsers. - The latest update allows us to export out a single page image file, which is really helpful. - We can simulate some advanced features, like the process of searching and filtering, drop down menus, and more for a fully interactive experience. - Their support team has also been really helpful!

  Cons

  - My one technical pain is the ability to create footers. From what I can see, there isn't a way to anchor a footer master to the bottom of a page at all times, so if I need a page to go longer, I have to manually move the footer down to create more space, so I can't just leave the footer in a template like I would during a regular web development project...which means sometimes I forget to add footers to my prototypes. - It can be a bit pricey for a small business, but I've made way more money using the tool, therefore justifying the cost.

  Summary

  I really couldn't see doing business without this software. I looked at several prototyping software and ProtoShare gave the most bang for the buck! Highly recommend it!

  Summary

  Protoshare is quite possibly one of the most brilliant tools I've ever worked with. What makes it so ingenious is its simplicity. It's incredibly simple both from the developer side and the reviewer side. So it becomes a great tool for developers and for sales staff. I am not a web designer. I'm not a developer, or an artist. My background wasn't in any of those things. I came from telecommunications to a development company, and one of the first things I was asked to do was dig into Protoshare. I was handed a link to the tutorials and a few minutes of training and that was it. The most amazing thing was that I never felt like I fumbled with the tool. The tutorial videos were so well done and so straight forward that it was almost intuitive. So many applications are cumbersome and overly technical, but not Protoshare. It's also one of my strongest sales tools. When I give my clients the ability to make changes to their website layout in real-time, it sets us apart from our competition. Then when they can utilize the tool, regardless of technical abilities, it works doubly to emphasize the seamlessness of working with our agency. I compare Protoshare to an Apple device. It's that kind of tool; incredible power and complexity made to look simple and effortless. If you're looking for a tool to take your design firm, your application firm, or anything of that nature to the next level; download, test, and become a convert. You, your team, and your clients will thank you.

• Changed the way I create wireframes

  Pros

  Easy to learn, highly collaborative online tool that has added so much to our information architecture and wireframing process. Our clients love the annotating feature and the idea that all generated thoughts around wireframes can be kept in one online space. As a designer, I find the tools very intuitive - it doesn't feel like working within an Adobe app, but it has the same sensibilities. Tools are in the right place, they do what you expect of them, etc. I've only had a few exchanges with their tech support and they've all been prompt, helpful and resolved whatever issue I was having.

  Cons

  Each time I think of a con, it's basically attended to in the next release. I haven't gotten into their mobile prototyping too much yet, but that was something that felt like it was missing for a while. However, it's there now and seems pretty robust.

• Prototyping in the cloud

  Pros

  I've been working in Protoshare for almost a year and this tool has been a great asset for our company. I'm able to quickly mock-up prototypes and then share them out to the business stakeholders for feedback or to the developers for guidance on what is to be implemented. By nature of the cloud each of these groups simply needs to login to protoshare to review the wireframes which makes collaboration quick and easy. Protoshare also pushes out minor and major updates to the product on a consistent basis which shows their dedication to the product and their willingness to add in features or functionality that may be missing.

  Cons

  Working with the various windows and pallets protoshare has can be a bit cumbersome on smaller resolutions. I always feel like I am constantly closing, moving and hiding these windows to maximize my real estate. Creating advanced UI interactions outside of the built in components protoshare has can feel cumbersome at times.

  Summary

  Protoshare is a really great way to quickly collaborate on upcoming features and functionality before committing real hours to design and development. The support is wonderful and they are always open to suggestions for improving the product which often come out in the next update much to my joy.

• Great Tool for Any Web Design Business or Product Team

  Pros

  ProtoShare provides just the right amount of flexibility, without giving the user too many options that would otherwise become cumbersome. The basics are there, making it quick and easy to get up and running, while advanced options such as states allows you to take things further such as mock up overlays or simple javascript UI elements. We also love the simple web export that makes it easy to share with clients and developers. It gets the job done, well.

  Cons

  PDF export would be a huge improvement over the Word Doc export. I look forward to the day this is an option.

  Summary

  ProtoShare is a useful, if not vital part of the design process for creating a successful website. My firm relies on ProtoShare to draft ideas and user-interface designs before we get to design or programming. ProtoShare allows us to get much further in our process, faster, through concept sketches and interactive prototypes. Using ProtoShare greatly improving efficiency and saving time and money for our clients as we can review ideas early on, in a highly visual, interactive way. I highly recommend ProtoShare for any individual or company who needs to execute user-interface designs quickly and accurately.
