  -It's easy to make new cards -Allows for audio and visual components -Keeps track of which cards you get wrong, and how often -A wide array of training options -Can sync with iPod -Can print out double-sided -Easy to organize -Online card sharing

  -Only for mac -No longer updated (but there's no bugs)

  Summary

  ProVoc is a brilliant flash-card making software. It once needed to be purchased, but the developer moved on to other programs. This means a free program with the features of a purchasable program. While they no longer update it or actively support it, it does everything I want to with so far no problems, and I've used it for over a year, and 6 months of hard-core GRE studying. I would recommend to anyone with a mac.

I was trying to find a program for the Mac that would help and could find nothing that did what I wanted a program to do until ProVoc. I am now using it to study Spanish. ProVoc can be used for other word studies, I also used it to drill me on medical terms.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is an excellent and very useful little piece of software. If you have any problems running it after install, it may help to first create a folder in your apps folder (called 'provoc' or whatever...) and copy the app and the downloaded vocabulary files in there before running the program for the first time, this sorted a minor problem out for me. Yes, it may take some time to add your personal vocs, but in my opinion it's well worth it. You can then test yourself, set if you want to have multiple choice answers (and if so how many), which way round you want to be tested (i.e. En&gt;Fr / Fr&gt;En, or a mix of both)....The app also helps you find duplicate entries in your lists, check spelling, etc. Very happy with the software so far, a big thanks to the author for making this freely available !!

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is the third version I've tried, and it still doesn't work. At least, I can't make it work. I downloaded it, and it appeared on my desktop as an application icon. I quickly transferred it to my applications folder, clicked on it, and it opened. I selected "editing" to switch the "from" and "to" languages to "English" and "Spanish." When I went back to the test mode and clicked the "Start Test" button, I get a dialog box that says "There is no word to be tested. Select another page, or uncheck the option â??Test marked words onlyâ??." Problem is, there are no other pages and the option mentioned isn't checked. I'm sure this works in the lab for the developers, but it doesn't work for me. Wish it did. Jack
