"Easy to make posters, interfaces easily with iPhoto."

    January 26, 2010   |   By jaykappmeier

    Version: Posterino 1.6.3

    Pros

Ready made templates help the beginner. Moving photos from your iPhoto app is easy. You can adjust the size of the photos as you are working to better see them. Cropping photos within the app works nicely. Export back to iPhoto is also easy.

    Cons

Some photos with a vertical orientation left spaces on either side of them in the box. No way I could find to reduce the number of squares in the classic life poster template . Would like to see the pictures larger than the zoom capability allows.

    Summary

This is a fast and easy way to make posters from your iPhoto pictures. Moving your photos from iPhoto to the poster template is a drag and drop operation. You can zoom individual squares to better see the photo. You can crop photos within a square. However, some of my vertically oriented photos left a white space on either side of the photo within the square. It works bets with rectangular photos. I would like to see even larger zoom capability for photos after moving them to the poster. The tutorial is helpful and I was able to make a poster after reviewing it. Exporting your poster back to iPhoto is also easy., Once in iPhoto, there are a number of ways to share the result. Once I go the hang of it, it took me about 30 minutes to make a poster and share it.
I would like to see more templates and ones with fewer squares. A 20x30 inch poster has 98 squares so you should have lots of photos to fill it.
You can adjust the template by choosing the size of the paper for output but I didn't try that function.
I recommend this application for people who want to make posters, have an iPhoto application and plenty of photos to add to the poster. Posterino takes a lot of the work out of this little project. These posters make wonderful gifts.

"Easy to use, Slick interface with iPhoto."

    December 05, 2009   |   By jaykappmeier

    Version: Posterino 1.6.2

    Pros

The tutorial is adequate to get you up and running. Moving your photos from iPhoto to the poster is easy - drag and drop. You can choose from one or several iPhoto albums. The shuffle feature saves time. Ordering prints from Apple is a snap.

    Cons

For me, the photos on the draft poster are not easy to see unless I zoom in a lot then there is a lot of scrolling to see the entire poster. The finished product in iPhoto is hard to see at full scale.

    Summary

If you want to quick and easy way to produce a poster from your iPhoto albums, this is it. You have options for the end product such as ordering a print from iPhoto, burning a CD for a local printer, etc. It allows you to choose photos from multiple iPhoto albums to produce a nice looking poster. I am very pleased with the program.

"Buy it for impulse, use it for life..."

    Version: Posterino 1.1

    Summary

Simply put, this is a wonderful app that I bought for a special project (to create a life poster for my wife's surprise 50th birthday party). Then I used it to create e-invitations to the party. The I used it to create real postcards sent from Swiss Post for another event. The point is that while this app is well worth the cost even if you just use it once for a special project, you will actually use it over time in a ongoing way and save lots of money in so doing. The user interface is one of the slickest and easiest to use that I've ever seen; it even updates itself (doesn't just tell you about it, actually does the whole thing). I have been conversing with the author and he is very responsive to suggestions as well. Highly recommended!

    Version: Posterino 1.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've just finished an XXL poster, which will be a present for my wife's birthday. The whole thing was basically done within 15 minutes or so, though I then tweaked the layout for about 2 extra hours, and now I'm very pleased with the result :-)

This app is so nice and easy to use. It works very much like any well behaved Mac app. (But I had to dive into help to find out how to rotate images, and the mechanism for that turns out to be really darn easy.)

High quality results. Deserves all the credit it gets.

    Recommended.

    ...looking life poster
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Yes there are methods that exist to make life posters that are entirely free but if you really want to make a poster that looks exactly how you want it to look with minimal fuss this program is the way to go. So far beta 6 seems stable for me and I love the feature set. I particularly like that it's so easy to scale images to fit just the way you want without having to crop pictures first. I also love how you can delete frames and expand images horizontally or vertically to take up multiple slots. This is very cool for pictures that you just don't want to crop in order to fit in to a predetermined slot. Now that making life posters isn't so easy with iPhoto 6, this is the clearly the best way to make life posters that kick ass.

    "Be a bit afraid..."

    Version: Posterino 1.0 beta 6

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Aspects of this application are really nice, but it's currently a bit of a hog; relatively simple tasks take a long time, and after constructing a couple of relatively simple posters the *real* memory usage was over 250MB. OUCH! When it says beta it means **beta**.

Just for the record, it also takes a long time doing very, very little when asked to produce a jpg/tiff of a poster you've created. In trial mode it does not such thing, but instead spins its wheels for some time before producing a jpg/tiff that's nothing but a slap in the face.

    Blrrrk.

    "Great Program"

    Version: Posterino 1.0b4r142

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Having been an early tester in the private beta, I find the developer very responsive and interested in ideas that will improve this program.

It is a useful tool that does a good job of filling a need and more easily than many other programs that could be made to do similar things.

Worth your time to check out and well worth the price as it continues to improve!
